He's goiing to wiish he hadn't done that.

The photographer noticed it given the kid was set at the sharp focus.  Though I do wonder if the PM has been working out his glutes.... the kid behind and to the right of the ginger is giving the look.

I laughed. Nice work,gingerkid.

That's not actually how they do "the middle finger" in England. At least, not commonly. Like Australia, it's typically two fingers in a V shape, back of the hand facing outward. Though he does have two fingers up, so it might just be a farked up Vulcan Briton fark-off gesture, with the middle and ring fingers instead of the middle and index finger.

I'd have gone with the right hand holding up the head, thumb under the chin, knuckles on the cheek, two fingers against the temple and spread for a much clearer gesture, but I probably would've got done a lot sooner than him.

So is it law in England that the white kids sit in the front for these photo ops?

That's pretty sad, England.

Well.. Nick Clegg shows that the trend to send the worst of the worst airheads into office isn't just in the U.S.

Yeah, student council makes sense.

It's just kind of sad that the one minority member of the student council, probably representing one of the poorer sections of the school, isn't allowed to sit with the other student council representatives.

Look how sad he looks - damn you, England.

I was thinking the same thing when I first looked at it, I was also thinking this before I even RTFA:

But some of Harry's friends agreed the gesture was not what it seemed - claiming that he was actually swearing at another pupil, not Nick Clegg.

One of his buddies is taking shiat, and he is just responding. No big deal, except that he's in the front row, and the photog saw it.

Expelled?  Are you mad?   If the school expelled him over here, the parents would be slapping the school with the biggest lawsuit ever, ACLU, etc, etc, foaming at the mouth, etc. . .

Er, this is exactly how we do "the middle finger". We do also have the "v-sign" which is the index and middle fingers together.
Also, he is only showing ONE finger, not sure where this ring finger business comes into it.

Clegg has been a let down and I am with finger-kid.

Really? I thought you all did the v-sign and the middle finger was mostly American.

I like the V-sign better. It's much more evocative. Middle finger's how my aunt points at stuff in the newspaper.

We do both although I think you may be right insofar as preferences go but the middle-finger is still widely used here.  The finger is usually accompanied by "up yours", whereas the V-sign is usually a "fark you" or "fark off".
We like insult gestures as we also have the "wanker" sign - make a circle using thumb and forefinger and simulate masturbation, remember to keep other fingers curled.

/Brits saying "wanker" in American shows also amuses us greatly as it's quite an insult here.
