"There are times, and I don't think it is our movement, but there are times when people are using language that shouldn't be used," Paul told tea party activists according to The Washington Examiner.

Whose movement is it, Mr Party Of Personal Responsibility?

No, no they can't.

It's not their fault they're calling Obama a ni-BONG. They wouldn't be forced to do so if he would just stop Presidenting while Black.

They can, but they choose not to because it's more viscerally appealing to people to be insulting and churlish than engage in any thoughtful critique that demonstrates a willingness to have an adult conversation.

the GOP has been going full retard for the last 5 years and NOW it's time to tone it down?  mid-term prospects must be looking a little grim.

Kome: They can, but they choose not to because it's more viscerally appealing to people to be insulting and churlish than engage in any thoughtful critique that demonstrates a willingness to have an adult conversation.

My BIL is a Tea Party/Libertarian nut (not trying to insult, but that's the fact) and it is very difficult to have any sort of meaningful conversation concerning our government at large and the people involved.  Don't get me wrong, I am far from a bleeding heart lib (I am more left leaning at this point in my life), and he does make excellent points at times...but...man...it is tough to have any lengthy conversation, especially when every other word is "those crooks, that negro, etc."

I have no problem having a healthy debate/conversation with someone, because I do I agree that there there should be a fair amount of criticism towards our government and its leaders...but when you start acting like a petulant child and start working in the ad hominem and outright name calling, the conversation turns childish very quickly.

I think my uncle is one of the last remaining honest conservatives.  Sometimes we agree on core issues that are worthy of debate.  Sometimes we don't.  We usually don't devolve into tu quoques about party behavior (which is different than political ideology and the philosophy of governance).  I actually enjoy it.  Guy's wicked smart.

It still shocks and confuses me that the establishment GOP allowed the party to be so closely associated with the extreme religious right and the Tea Party in the past 5-10 years.  While they may have increased their voting base, it is coming at a cost, specifically in losing the moderate voters that tend to walk the line with both major parties.

I have a few friends who have all about swore off the GOP because of the BS that Arizona pulled this past week with that retarded "Religious Freedom" (anti-gay) bill.  They are pandering to the extreme right for the short term at the cost of losing a lot of voters.

Amphetamine does, not sure about coke.

I think it's pretty wrong to not include the entire speech as written by Rand Paul:

"The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.  But there is something that I must say to my people who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice. In the process of gaining our rightful place we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds.

Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred.

We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence."

Psychostimulants can help with some symptoms of some forms of ADHD, though the precise dosage to get the optimal benefit is harder to nail down. Cocaine, which is almost always taken in doses the user wants, would probably cause more detriments than benefits.

Are you kidding me? The Establishment GOP deliberately takes otherwise sensible people and feeds them propaganda and turns them crazy. Crazy = will vote for us no matter what.

On the religious right, its the barrage of "War on Christmas" and "Christians are getting their rights stripped away by big government, so vote tax breaks for the 1%!!" For the Tea Party it's "Obama and liberals are deliberately bringing about the apocalypse, to create a new world order of socialism. So vote tax breaks for the 1%!!"

This is deliberate. The GOP deliberately wants to create voter paranoia and insanity. It is the only way to get voters to vote against their self-interest.

So Rand "attack-your-opponent-with-her-husband's-20-year-old-sex-scandal" Paul is saying we shouldn't resort to name calling.  The man who analogized the United States to the Wiemar Republic and compared Obama's election to the rise of Hitler, says we can criticize the president without calling him names.

I disagree. The teabaggers are the same 28%ers that loyally supported Bush at the end of his term, joined the John Birch Society, and held signs at the Supreme Court opposing interracial marriage.

The freeper's are becoming self-aware (On the issue of gay-rights) :

Bingo. Why we are losing and WILL lose this battle. I don't think many realize we are a small minority and America just doesn't think like us anymore. Because of the press and Internet we seem like a larger group than we actually are. I'm not at all advocating caving on what we believe (a/k/a RINOs). But we are perceived, and not without good reason, as a bunch of cranky old lunatics. And we cranky old lunatics are a quickly vanishing breed. It's why I harp that we need a leader and not a rabble rouser which is why I am no Ted Cruz fan. Would I vote for him? Of course. Buy my shrinking demographic will never get him nominated much less elected. We need to be smart in our anger. But I haven't seen an inch of progress onthat in years. It's why the RINOs run the show. They aren't so smart, but they aren't perceived as screamers.

Wanna win elections? You MUST have the numbers. Unfortunately. We don't, and screaming is not the way to get them. Sure people hate O'Dimwit. But these are different times. That does not mean they vote for us.
