Paul Lynde as Loki = LOL

I was kind of sad to see that they didn't include Reb Brown in CAPTAIN AMERICA, since they have Lou
Ferrigno doing the voice of the Hulk.

What, no spider man, too?  He turned up in the avengers from time to time and there was an awful 70's version of that, too.

Hawkeye was alright until they fought Beak from the X-Men.

Did DC produce those WB animated Batman/JL movies? Cuz those are actually pretty good. Miller's  Dark Knight Returns is a fantastic 2 parter.

Where did the footage of "The Ironman" come from?

Yes. And yeah they are pretty damn awesome. The Dark Knight Returns and Batman:Year One are easily better than any live action movies from either the DC or Marvel universe.

Yes they are!    The Dark Knight returns does a great job of staying true to the graphic novel.   I purchased the 2 DVD's at Walmart on sale and did not expect much but was blown away at how good it was.  They could have released the entire story to theaters and would have done well.

Batman Year One (Animated) is also very good.

2014-02-28 09:16:09 AM
I think the Iron Man footage is actually footage from a 70s TV movie called Exo-Man.  It was pretty much horrible.

And Hawkeye rules.

The producers of the real film are sweating the possibilities, they're just plain sweating.

The Muthaship: Ace Frehley is the greatest of all super heroes.

Ace Frehley or his african american stunt double?

Ace walked off the set of Phantom in disgust at what a farce it was (and the fact he had no lines), so they put a black guy in his costume, painted his face, and finished shooting the movie. It's pretty obvious (and hilarious) in a couple scenes.

Of course, they forgot to cover the stunt double's hands...

Also, Peter was so farked up during post production, they had the voice of Barney Rubble overdubbing his lines.

It stayed true to the graphic novel, but it also really reminded me of just how farking nuts Frank Miller was even then. Long before Image, Miller was grimdarking up Batman and turning him basically into the same not-Bruce-Wayne psychopath he wrote in All-Star Batman & Robin.

The ONLY part that wasn't brilliant in dark knight returns was when superman fights the russians, no silhouetted S man stopping nukes and such

A billion people will die, if I am weak

None of that, I thought it was a miss.  But the rest of the like 5 hours of insane batman was fantastic

Seconded. That was one of the most important parts of the story for me and they more or less blew it.

On a serious note, that's a timely reminder that pulling off Thor without it being laughably over-the-top and cheesy is not easy.

It is; that's what I came to post. IIRC, it was about a guy who suffered from a debilitating injury who created a suit that allowed him to walk, while ignoring the effects of inertia and momentum (he could stand in the street and have a speeding car wrap itself around him). Don't ask me how that tied in with walking, it wasn't my series.

I don't care WHO is in the costume, that movie farking ROCKS! So goddam silly it's fun. Hanna Barberra produced it, so anybody who didn't expect it to be a live action Scooby Doo episode had been eating WAY too many Scooby Snacks...

I want to reiterate: Frank Miller did a brilliant thing with Steve, the psychopathic hobo in All-Star. He built up the hopes of man children that love dark, gritty, and insane Batman, the Batman that always beats everyone hands down because he is crazy prepared and just plain crazy. He made a giant shiat stew for the fanboys to guzzle. I only wish DC hadn't pulled the plug on his performance art project. Wonder Woman pegging Elongated Man, then getting gang raped by Alfred and Robin (age 12) Followed up by Crazy Steve forcing Captain Marvel and Superman into a compromising situation, then blowing them up with a mxyptlk bomb while foaming at the mouth.

Or something equally insane.

When I was a kid there were two movies that I would watch at least once a week because they were awesome:

1) The Last Starfighter
2) Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park

I wonder if I can still find that VHS

Yup, I was I going to correct you until I saw you took care of it.  :)

That, Men in Black, and that Criminal Intent thing are the only roles I've ever seen him do.  Which is a weird spread.

OH MY GOD.  His character in MIB was a bug, and the other Thor now plays an exterminator.

God, tv in the '70's was awful.  I guess I need to see the Kiss movie again, now that I can appreciate its badness.

Better than anything DC has produced? Do you mean DC Comics or Washington, DC?
(You're probably correct either way.)

A delightful reminder of the sheer awfulness of that decade. Nice find subby.
