Since they can't go back to the greasers, I guess they'll have to pick up their pieces

It's OK - they always knew how to survive.

Well, at least they didn't close down Mr. Cacciatore's down on Sullivan street, across from the Medical Center.

I won't.  But at least I can polish the fenders!

Wait a minute... we seem to have strayed away from the source material.

Steering back into the slide:

I heard that they parted the closest of friends!

Holy crap. I'm having a heart attack-ack-ack-ack-ack. I grew up there, in Billy Joel Country. As a twisted snowflake, I used to pass by Christiano's every damn day. Hardly ever ate there though. About 15 years ago the owners bought the house I grew up in from my Mom. They renovated and added on until it was unrecognizable. I wish they loved it just the way it was. One of my many Billy Joel related lattice of coincidences from that time. Maximum CSB, right?

I can't tell you more, because I've told you already.

If you haven't seen it yet, I recommend the documentary that Showtime is showing about his trip to the Soviet Union in the late 80s to do some shows there.

Is that the one where he complained because the spotlight was on the crowd too much and not on him enough?

Yes, but the reason was because every time the lights shined on the crowd, they (the crowd) froze and quit having fun because of the oppression or something like that. All I know is Chrisite Brinkley was smoking hot, and still is.

So were there any reasons why the original owners sold the place? Did they start to fight when the money got tight?

Sort of CSB...

In college I dated a girl whose parents were named Brenda and Eddie. She was from Elmont and he was from Hempstead and they settled in Wantagh to raise a family and work at Grumman.  On their anniversary we would always sing the intro to the song, since Christiano's was where he had proposed to her.

What happened to the couple of paintings from Sears?

If that's moving up, then I'm moving out.  But seriously, I am from Long Island (so very happy to be a California girl now) and Billy Joel is one of my favorites.  My uncle went to High School with Billy Joel in Hicksville.  My parents used to eat at this restaurant.

I believe Pierre and the Mademoiselle picked them up from a two-room Roebuck sale.

Brenda and Eddy were still going
Steady in the summer of '75
When they decided the marriage would
Be at the end of July...

Brenda and Eddie had had it
Already by the summer of '75
From the high to the low to
The end of the show
For the rest of their lives...

I just saw Billy Joel last Friday and he played Zanzibar.  I've seen him 5 or 6 times and it was the first time he ever played it (to MY knowledge).

It was a highlight of the show!
