"There are no winners, except those making money by selling abortions, when Big Abortion leader Planned Parenthood pours millions into America's elections,"

But enough about the Robocop remake.

That could have interesting effects. Not so much because of the ads themselves, but because if they start shopping early, they may be able to cut the amount of commercial time available for candidates to purchase.

Wait, so if I donate to PP, there will be fewer political ads?

No; merely fewer for particular candidates. You're still unlikely to be able to see any commercials for your local car dealer any time between June 2014 and November.

Actually it doesn't matter to me at all.  I'm in a non-swing state and own a Tivo.

I'm in FL, so I know the airwaves will be inundated this year.  I just hope that whoever runs against Scott manages to run a better campaign than Alex Sink.  I can't even recall if any of her ads were bad - I just can't remember them at all, which is probably worse.

2014-02-27 08:49:33 PM
Why not? It's not like the GOP could hate PP any more than they currently do.

2014-02-27 08:50:25 PM
They should have a series of commercials from real women who've had abortions. This is the teen girl who was raped and Candidate X would have made her carry her rapist's baby. This is the married woman down the street who already had two children and couldn't afford another, etc. There's too much stigma around it. Just come out and own it. Don't try to soften it with "reproductive rights" or anything. Just "I had an abortion and it was the best decision I've ever made."

2014-02-27 08:54:01 PM
So the GOP finally learned that ACORN is no longer around to be a dog whistle?

Most abortions are performed on women who already have children. Since there's so much bullshiat propaganda floating about on useful idiots women who "regret" their abortions, I wanna see ads starring women who would've regretted NOT having an abortion.

That's one of the talking points.  For years they've been fudging numbers to try and claim there's some huge abortion industry and PP is the ringleader.  It's kind of like their bassackwards conspiracy theories regarding global warming scientists all being in cahoots for no good reason.

Which brings to mind this point...if environmental scientists only cared about faking results to get funding, WOULDN'T THEY BE FAKING FOR THE OIL INDUSTRY?  Instead of 99% of scientists saying one thing, wouldn't they at least split up 50/50 so they can keep the debate and the money going?

I helped pay for a trip to summer camp by setting up an abortion stand as a kid, at 25 cents apiece. Lots of people even gave me the money without even getting the abortion!

Big Abortion uses lobbyists to push for anti-abortion legislation, thereby enshrining their abortion monopoly and preventing the free market from pricing abortions fairly.

Today's lesson in how to spot media bias*, courtesy of the headline: when an ally is going to do something, it's a plan. When an "enemy" is going to do something, it's a plot.

As far as the topic itself goes, $18m in 14 states still seems like just a drop in the bucket, but I wish them much success.

Hey, Republican assholes - Want the majority of the country to stop complaining about a "war on women?" Stop conducting a war on women.

The Republican party has just gotten so goddamn insane and evil that there is no legitimate reason to defend them or argue upon their behalf. The old conservatives (the ones that actually had intelligent things to say, at least) on this site have either switched sides, gone independent, or given up.

It's not so much that liberals won as America has been losing.

cchris_39: And how is endorsing liberal candidates part of their tax exempt purpose?

"The political arm of Planned Parenthood is preparing to launch its largest campaign offensive ever, targeting more than a dozen states and some of the cycle's top Senate and gubernatorial races to raise the alarm about the stakes of the 2014 midterm elections for women's health care and abortion rights."

Reading and understanding campaign laws is hard.

No. I never considered that. That would be stupid to think that way. I'm hearing many of the same old lid farkers, but really no, even moderate/fark libertarian, voices. It's just an echo chamber.
