The best cereals in no particular order:

Life
Chex
Cheerios
Captain Crunch (lost weight on a Capt Crunch diet before, yum!)
Kix
Crunchy Corn Bran
Rice Krispies

2014-02-27 09:15:10 PM
Smurfberry Crunch is #1.  Don't ask me why, been chasing that dragon for years now.

Life (barf!), Cinnamon Life (sorta barf!), Reese's Puffs (way off the mark), Rice Chex (corn is superior), Kix (really????), Trix (after they introduced the fruit shapes it's been utter crap), Special K (mom cereal), and Cookie Crisp (ya'll be eating some nasty cookies) should not be on that list.

/in before Fruit Brute and Quisp afficianados

dopekitty74: I'd put Lucky Charms dead last, and move raisin bran up much closer to the top.

Therapy and medication.

There is hope.

/not really

The prototype for Calvin and Hobbes sugared cereal is Sugar Jets. (Which were fantastic.) I haven't seen them in donkey's years. 30 40 50 years? Other sweet cereals from my youth: Wheat Honeys and Rice Honeys. Also fantastic.

But if you go all healthy then its hard to beat Cheerios.

2014-02-27 09:17:03 PM

solve4x: Raisin Bran Crunch is tops for me.  Even notable celebrates like Saddam Hussein think so.

I hear they're going to CGI him into a commercial!

2014-02-27 09:18:33 PM

Fallout Zone: The Goddamn Batman: Lucky Charms should be way higher.

I still occasionally buy them to just snack on them.  Any cinnamon or chocolate cereal is generally bad.

This. I love chocolate, but not in my breakfast cereal. Ugh.

2014-02-27 09:20:05 PM

Solid State Vittles: Time has proven to me that Honey Nut Cheerios never get old.

But they do go stale.

2014-02-27 09:20:35 PM

oukewldave: hundreddollarman: I'm sorry but Cinnamon Toast Crunch is farking disgusting. And Corn Pops are overrated. You leave them in milk for more than 2 minutes and they're this slimy squishy mess.

/Rice Krispies for life.

And rice krispies isnt a mess?  Lol.  Cinnamon toast crunch you have to use less milk, or eat a corner of the bowl and tilt the milk into there.

Do people really buy the name brand stuff?  The off brand stuff is just as good, and half the price.

No it isn't.

I want it to be. I really, really want it to be. But generic is just... so off.

All of you are stupid, All of you.

I recently discovered this cereal, which is currently my favorite; therefore, the best cereal in the world ever.

tuffsnake: And platinum goes to the old Nintendo cereal that was half Zelda, half Mario

Oddly enough, the taste was oddly similar to Rainbow Brite cereal.
That was a delicacy easy to miss out on if you weren't a girl or didn't have sisters.

2014-02-27 09:21:48 PM

dopekitty74: The healthier the cereal, the closer to the name brand, the store brand tastes. Ex: store brand froot loops = ugh! Store brand raisin bran = raisin bran

There's an important truth here, folks.

2014-02-27 09:21:59 PM
Also, Honey Nut Cheerios is just the worst. I truly don't like it.

The Irresponsible Captain: Shredded wheat.

//Don't care.

Its all mood based.

Cinimon life is great, but there are times when nutty nuggets (offbrand grapenuts) or cracklin oatbran are better.

You magnificent bastard! Two votes for the all-time sugary goodness of Quisp.
No fructosey nastiness. Just good ol' sugary sugar-coated sugar.

Timmy Brown will never forget that fateful day at Sunday School where I blew chunks of Quisp all over his back.

\good times!

SeedFreak: There used to be a multi-grain cereal called Team Flakes, if they still made it I'd live on the stuff.

When I was a kid, during the winter on Sunday nights after we'd been outside playing in the snow all day, my Mom would make us for dinner a 'brick' of shredded wheat. She would put it into a soup bowl and cover it with hot milk, a drizzle of honey and a pat of butter. It warmed your bones from inside out, and it would fill your stomach--the digestion would you make dozy soon after eating and you would sleep like a log all night long.

Shredded wheat on its own is just goat food, but the warmed milk, butter and honey made it lovely.

This. I haven't seen the old SOS pad in years, do the even exist?

And now that I've done a slight bit of research, turns out both were made by Ralston.
Those cheap sons of biatches just retooled the shapes and used the same freakin formula once Rainbow Brite's popularity died out and Nintendo's kicked in.

1. Rice Chex *
2: Life Cinnamon
3. Life
4. Honey Nut Cheerios *
5. Honey Bunches of Oats w/Almonds *
6. Raisin Bran
7. Corn Flakes (Cornflakes. Cornflakes cornflakes cornflakes, cornflakes cornflakes, cornflakes cornflakes!)
8. Peanut Butter Crunch

*Or generic equivalent.

Acrtually, oatmeal is my #1 fave, but it's a hot cereal, not a cold one.

If you don't mind buying non-brand name cereals at places like Aldi's or Save-a-Lot, Captain Chocos is the best damn cereal I've ever had. And this is from a die-hard Coco Puffs fan.

I've seen them at Waldbaum's. Probably Walgreen's has them too. Likely any place you see a Nana shopping will have them.
