Good morning everyone! Gee, I missed the Super Sherpa Happy Dance last night. Congrats Sherpa and Dragon!

Fauxlidays: missed Cinco di Mayo (a true fauxliday created by Corona to sell beer)

De-skunking: my brother swears by almond extract. Mix 1/4 cup in a quart of water and douse the animal. Let sit about 15 minutes, then shampoo and rinse.

Reaching ft of pg11, reading ferfer72 my sistah SwAdeline's posts.  Rolling in glitter actually more effective than rolling in loose sequins; by definition, glitter sticks better.
De-skunk potion quoted by tigerose for Canadian Lurker, backed up by DDA's viewing of old Mythbusters episode. Ratio of contents ought be either GoodSearchable or Gurgle-able.
tigerose's linkie to July 27 reclined to work for moi.  Flashed & quickly vanished.  Hope to get a fill sometime somehow, unless lysdexic might deign to provide that before tigeroses get home from church ...

My morning so far: Woke up at four and had to feed Li-Ion and Max so they would stop walking on me and patting my face to make sure I was OK. Fed all the critters and read enough Caturday to find that Sir Dragon is getting better. Yeah!
I began working on the guest bath and finishing up a few things. Called my friend in Ill. who is getting an ice storm right now. I sat out on the porch where it is nice and warm this morning. While we were on the phone I saw Cassie bring up a fat lizard, she was not hurting it, just playing catch and release. King George saw the lizard and ran over while calling to Queen Freddy to follow. He took the lizard from between Cassie's paws and handed it off to Freddy. She took it and slammed it on the ground twice then ran off to eat it with George following. They move up to the porch and George jumped up to the railing to crow about his skill as a hunter/thief. Freddy was walking around on the porch making the "waaalk waaalk" call.
Suddenly George  got down and led Freddy down the steps and into the chicken tractor. Freddy got on her nest and the other hens lined up out the door to wait. (there are three nests but they only lay in one of them) . George stood guard outside and waited for her. Five minutes later I heard the "I just laid an egg" song with George singing along to announce his queens success.
I went back to work on the house and came out to find this in the living room:
img.fark.net
I shooshed her out and told her to stay with George, she is the one hen that will go off by herself and I am afraid she will be hawk food if she won't listen to the rooster and stay with the group.
Oma Cassie was watching something in the front yard and I saw the big doe and her yearling run away to the back field. I got the camera but they bounced away waving their longish white tails in the air and I could not get their picture.
Hope the rest of the day goes as nice as this morning.

I find that particular picture troubling.
Any prairie dog worth his salt can do basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
Up to 4 or 5 digits (unless they're autistic).
When facing a problem of "2+2", almost any prairie dog would think to himself, "shiat, this one's a cinch!" .

However, research has indicated that prairie dogs suck at both percentages and integrals.
When faced with something like "What is 17½% of F(x) = xq + 1/(q + 1) where x=4 and q is the square root of Jupiter?"
In that case, the most likely response from the prairie dog would be "shiat3..."
and a cat...

What does Caturday have to do with the integration of prairie dogs on Jupiter?

They gotta come from somewhere !!!!

I'm pretty sure that's every US holiday.  If you want the drunker ones, you want 4th of July, Christmas, St. Patrick's Day, Thanksgiving, Memorial Day, and Labor Day.

New Year's Eve, Easter,  Mother's Day, Father's Day, First Day of Spring, First Day of Summer, and my birfday!  You forgot those......  :D

Veteran's Day, Flag Day, D-Day, National Pancake Day, International Talk-Like-A-Pirate Day, National Pancake Day, International Underwear-On-Head Day... uhh... now?

Let's not forget that this Tuesday is Mardi Gras!

hawaiijenno: Anyone have any advice related to rabbits? Husband & I visited with a lovely flemish giant named Barnaby at the local animal shelter, but neither of us has any bunny experience. He's 10 months old, freshly neutered and 16 lbs.  [img.fark.net image 850x635]

Bunnies can be awesome pets-they are highly intelligent and be taught to use a litter box.  Bunny-proof your house and you don't even need a cage.

Believe it or not, the larger rabbits such as a Flemish Giant are actually easier to care for-they tend to have a more laid back personality.

They make great pets, but they are work-not really much more than a cat is, though.  Rabbit.org has more information, and is a great resource for any questions you may have.

How could I forget Mardi Gras?!!

Oh, yeah. "Mardi Gras" = that thing I don't know what it's about or how it started or anything, but involves booze, beads and boobs. This tells me it is probably a religious holiday of some sort. Party on, religious dudes and dudettes. You are totally forgiven*

*depending on religion and mood of attendant deity - YMMV

Well, I guess that lizards don't agree with Tom's stomach. I saw him laying  by the toy basket in the living room but since there was no pile of feathers I figured he was not successful in his hunt today. I had to do a small repair on the wall in that corner so I got the drywall patch and some putty knives and then I saw it. Half a blue belly lizard and a pile of partially digested lizard parts. Gross. Had to clean up after him before I could get anything done. He went back out and is probably catching more things to barf on my floor.
img.fark.net
He's cute when he sleeps with his tongue out.
