However, I did learn I can swear quite well at 8 am when I haven't had any caffeine in me yet.

If you are going to go that long between squishes, you need to find a full time hands on inspector...

sno man: catmandu: In my attempt to be much better with my health I went in today for the annual boob squish (which I haven't done in 10 years). When I got to the hospital entrance where the clinic is, they had VALET PARKING! It was great since our temps are in single digits again today. (All is good BTW)

[i283.photobucket.com image 500x574]

I also start my back-strengthening water exercise class tomorrow. If I can get the back better, I should be able to do more stuff like shopping and housework so I never again get to the point I was a couple of months ago.

Mammograms & self checks are very important!  I had no family history, but had a 3cm lump removed at 36 years old. Wasn't cancer, but  we didn't know that until after it was out.  It can happen to anyone.

Honey, I know it's no fun, but.....you can't go that long!!! Too many things can happen in that amount of time!! And why does lily always show up on my keborad JUST when I am trying to type something>>>>?

It was a combination of not liking my primary care physician and then the unemployment and insurance issues started.

Speaking of pcp, I found out that the nurse-practitioner who has been managing my case at the free clinic has her regular practice at a different clinic in the same health management organization as my other Dr. who I don't like so, once my Medicare kicks in, I can see her as my primary care and she will already have access to my records. She actually listens to me and makes me feel like she cares and welcomes my active participation in my care decisions. (She is also the one who called the cops for a wellness check when she couldn't reach me after getting the original blood tests done).

Only drawback is that she isn't quite as cuddly as this Dr.:

My dearest friends, I need to invoke the power of Caturday - the white one is not doing at all well right now. I got home this afternoon from a job interview only to find him seemingly unable to urinate, as well as some drops of blood on the floor in front of his litter box. Of course I immediately realized that this was indicative of either an infection or a blockage (which in his already compromised condition is no joke) and I totally lost it.

I called my sainted vet to see if there was anything I could do since I was unable to afford to bring him in. Ceiling Cat bless the woman, she said "hell yes, just bring him in RIGHT NOW and we will worry about the bill later". (She also kept the place open past closing time to finish his treatment).

So I promptly shoved him into his carrier, and drove though the snow and 5 degree below zero wind chill while shaking like a leaf and trying not to think the worst. Diagnosis at this point is a very serious bladder infection with severe inflammation - probably not a blockage - (as his bladder was not grossly distended and the vet was able to express a small amount of urine). She gave him both antibiotic and anti-inflammatory shots, and I got to take him home with me, now we just have to wait and see what happens in the next 24 hours.

I hope for the best, since Dragon is a tough little fu(ker, but the possibility remains that he could crash and burn - so PLEASE, cross all paws, arms, legs, eyes, what have you - any good wishes/vibes/prayers would be greatly appreciated.

I'm a total mess right now, but I will try to do my best to keep you all updated.

Hey everybody!  New cat Jasper is getting along with his new brother just fine, but he's still very much a kitten.  He says hello to the Caturday folks and hopes to be around for a long, long time.  Let him offer you all kisses:

He had worms they got rid of before I adopted him, but he still eats like he's hungry all the time.  That's the only problem so far.  He's still a kitten so he is testing boundaries, and one of those boundaries is trying to eat our food at dinner, or jumping on the table, or eating food off the stove.  We're still working on that.

If you look really close you can see his extra-sexy color-coordinated name tag.

Abby is like that with people food too! She was really bad about that when I brought her home at 6 weeks of age or so. She took a flying leap onto my plate of spaghetti that first night. A couple of days later she did an amazing sky hook motion & made hubby's ham sandwich fly through the air off of the plate he was trying to hold out of her reach.
