Sure looks like a nice day to go to the zoo, though

"the wonderful lions, tigers and leopards are kept in woefully inadequate compounds, and many have lost the plot as a result"

There's nothing quite so sad as a tiger that's lost its plot.

I guess these aren't the dogs Kim fed his uncle to.

More like "the last two dogs left uneaten".

It is probably to keep them from being eaten.

The dinner exhibit.

It's not a zoo. It's a ranch.

could be... ferocious little beasts... a pack of them can devour a full grown man in 2 or 3 months... starting from the ankles and working their way up.... stopping occasionally to get brushed and have their bows and ribbons readjusted.

They belong in a museum.

Could it be like a lobster tank where you pick your dinner?

Hey a cage is an improvement. Usually you find their dogs behind the sneeze guard.

They will go through bone like butter.

Wait, did I say bone? I meant to say delicate little cakes. Pink frosted cupcakes with icing decorations that look like little steaks and chops.

/I'm really getting a lot of mileage out of that one jpg.

After a foxhunt we were gathered in the farm owners barn for hunt breakfast and they had a little bitty Yorkie wandering around the barn. The poor thing was threading its way through a forest of booted and spurred feet, nervous as a cat in a rocking chair factory. I picked him up and moved him to the side before he got squashed...

Probably because dogs are cheaper to feed and care for than most large and exotic species. It also wouldn't surprise me if exotic species were on the list of "luxury goods" the rest of the world isn't supposed to be giving/selling to NK.

All in preparation for a very special Korean version of Yorkshire pudding.

Yorkshire terriers were originally bred to hunt mice and rats in the textile mills of northern England.  Underfoot is the Yorkie's natural habitat.

If you only see unchecked racism in threads about Asians...you're either blind to non-Asian racism, or you're reading a different website.

You haven't lived until you've been there at feeding time. They typically toss a Zebra in to the Yorkie pit at noon every day.

Isn't the point of a zoo to put unfamiliar animals on display for the public? Maybe Yorkies are an unfamiliar species of dog there.

I really don't see a problem with this.
Terriers are my very favorite breed. They are both cute and cuddly. Also easy dogs to feed.

Had a Yorkie when I was a kid. Tough little dog and nasty if she didn't get her way. If they were as big as St Bernards, we would have hunted them to extinction out of self defence.

/ Or died trying.

I wonder if this is analogous to the Chinese phenomenon of putting huge Mastiff dogs in zoos and trying to pass them off as lions... maybe the Yorkies are supposed to be, I dunno, prairie dogs?
