I would think there would be plenty of hand-sewn leather football helmets.

Feeling like a sock would be nice. I seem to play a little better barefoot that I do in boots, so it may be fun to try out.
I need to see that price tag though. Anything over $200 makes it super not worth it.

Youre absolutely right.  That is some of the worst pain in footy, sometimes so painful it instantly leads to head trauma and a need to stop, drop and roll.

This. I'd think most of the first football Helmets were like hand made and using machines to sew the leather together came later.

It's a good thing it never rains in England, otherwise these would get ruined. And it provides so much protection to the metatarsal!
