Er... They showed that episode in December.

2004-01-31 06:31:09 PM
That was a damned funny episode.

Keeping Newfoundlanders from committing sodomy, now that is just cruel.

2004-01-31 06:45:45 PM
Aww, surely someone could have waited longer than a *month* to let them in on the joke.

2004-01-31 07:00:51 PM
Who is going to be the first spell-bunny to point out that
'about' is misspelled?

Mwaa

;)

2004-01-31 07:02:42 PM
whats this all aboot in 'ere? You making fun of canadians?

Well let me pull up a chair! :P

Matt and Trey may think making fun of canadians makes no sense, but i think it makes perfect sense. fark those canuks.

2004-01-31 07:43:13 PM
Ha Kiribub totally doesn't get it.

2004-01-31 08:06:57 PM
Not only did the episode air in December, but this is the episode where Sadam was captured Sunday morning, and the Wednesday night episode of South Park was changed to include it.

I geuss it's possible that the episode was supposed to be the finale, but nobody makes episodes that far in advance.

2004-01-31 08:14:40 PM
I saw something where they explained that it takes about 5 days to produce a South Park show, Bulls_Eye01. Because the animation is so simple, they can throw shows together really easily. It takes the Simpsons a looong time to make a show. I think like 8 months.

2004-01-31 08:48:00 PM
Episode Info in case you missed it the first time around like I did.

Is there usually a delay in floppy-heads, I mean Canadians, getting these episodes?

2004-01-31 09:11:57 PM
DariusMDeV
Actually, I do get it. Hence the comedy inherent in my post.
Thanks all the same.

2004-01-31 09:31:08 PM
Where's my farkin' Cheesy Poofs?

2004-01-31 10:22:36 PM
I wonder how far in advance the Homestar Runner episodes are started until they're published.

2004-01-31 10:25:31 PM
I always thought that our neighbors to the north lived in a time warp. Now I have to believe that the FARK Mods live in one, too.

2004-01-31 10:26:13 PM
theurge14 there was a fark article last year that said something about how they do the animation and stuff basically the night before it comes out and pretty much stay up all night working on it. could be BS, who knows? email them and ask them.. not like the Chapman brothers get a lot of email or anything..

2004-01-31 10:26:48 PM
Really, there's only one road...*THE* T-Can

Everything else is just cart and buggy trail.

PS Toronto Rock suck. But not as bad as the Rochester Knighthawks.

theurge14

I wonder how far in advance the Homestar Runner episodes are started until they're published.

Well, if South Park needs 5 days to be very funny, and 5 days is the standard for something that'sw very funny, I'd estimate Homestar Runner takes about 5 minutes.

2004-01-31 10:29:10 PM
BTW, I almost forgot:

We don't get Comedy Central in Canada. So the episode hasn't been broadcast yet. I know because all of my friends south of the border keep telling me "oh man did you see the Canada episode" and I have to keep saying "no, it hasn't been shown yet."

Remember. They're like 3 years behind on the Sopranos and Six Feet Under here...

2004-01-31 10:29:54 PM
Canadians? One day, they will invade the US with their "oot and aboot" and incessant use of "eh?" Its difficult to tell them apart. They look exactly like us, only are more polite!

And there are spies among us... Michael J. Fox, Dave Foley, Alan Thicke!

One day, mark my words, they are invading us. And we won't even know it until one of those floppy headed hosers in residing in the White House!

Comedy Central's rebroadcast of Kids in the Hall episodes is only preparing us for the assimilation.

/I for one, do not welcome our new Canuck overlords...

2004-01-31 10:30:07 PM
Damn, no Comedy Central *and* three years behind on good TV series?

It really is a backwards land full of headflappers.

Though Canadian women are uber-hot. Don't know why, they just are.

2004-01-31 10:30:44 PM
I don't think it's the mods, StrikitRich. Let's look at the article, shall we:
Last Updated Fri, 30 Jan 2004
The South Park season finale airs on the Comedy Network on February 13.

Thanks for playing, you get no prize.

2004-01-31 10:30:51 PM
awww!! That was the season finale!!!
That sucks!

/wants more southpark

2004-01-31 10:33:29 PM
Everything takes a long time with the Simpsons. They're slackers on putting out the DVDs. I mean, does it REALLY take a whole year to slap out a season of DVDs? You could whip out the commentary in one day, and it's not like anyone listens to all of them. South Park rules for having 3 seasons out on DVD in the span of like 9 months. Mini-commentaries=good.

2004-01-31 10:34:22 PM
They showed that ep eons ago. Holy shiat. Canadians are as stupid and sterile as we suspected.

2004-01-31 10:34:55 PM
The long was that season, if the finale was in December?
Three months?
Psh.
Cable TV.. grumblegrumblegrumble

2004-01-31 10:35:44 PM
The long was that season, if the finale was in December?
Make that How long

2004-01-31 10:42:49 PM
Did we really need a journalist to tell us that that which was depicted in a cartoon was unlike reality?

2004-01-31 10:44:55 PM

2004-01-31 10:44:57 PM
Yes! I won't be able to see it! Kickass!

/sarcasm

It totally sucks for me right now. I had DirecTV and cable channels for the longest time, but since dad moved out, we only have antenna. My computer chair's ass groove hasn't been bigger.

2004-01-31 10:45:16 PM
We sent Nanook out on the dogsled with pelts to trade for the new season of South Park like 7 months and he just got back. Damn Eskimos. That's what we get for living in Canada. Well, I gotta go fix my igloo, some French Canadian kids just hit it with a hockey puck.

2004-01-31 10:45:24 PM
hey peter_hook, i dunno where in canada you are, but i've got comedy central, so i am able to see south park. however i did miss the episode where they went to canada, and only heard about it from friends afterwards.
i don't mind that they show re-runs or old episodes, because i haven't seen many of them. :P

as for sopranos and 6 feet under, i don't mind cuz i don't like either of those shows... but before anyone flames me, it's just my opinion. don't kill me for it. 6 feet under looks interesting, but i have no patience for sopranos.

2004-01-31 10:46:17 PM
Yeah I guess it takes a while for news to be translated from English to Canadian.

2004-01-31 10:50:17 PM
Just watch out for Scott. He's a dick!

2004-01-31 10:55:41 PM
I welcome our new Canadian overlords, eh? Hosers...

Nickers

Have you heard of kazaa.

/currently have 20 episodes downloaded

2004-01-31 10:57:07 PM
They really do talk like that up there!

2004-01-31 11:06:37 PM
Hugh: that's true in Ontario (the aboot, eh stuff)...in Newfoundland, where I'm from, it's a hell of a lot faster, and something like an Irish accent...out west, as I understand it, they talk slooowww.

Go Canada! Go Newfoundland! Woo-woo!

/that's jus' fo' decoration

2004-01-31 11:19:58 PM
BrianGoff, really? I'm from Ontario and I've never heard anyone talk like that.

Oh yeah. Go Ontar-- ah, who am I kidding? :(

2004-01-31 11:20:32 PM
They usually start working on the animation 4 days before the show is supposed to air. They use Maya, a really great 3D animation program (I believe it was used for Shrek), to create and animate the characters. For South Park's purposes, it doesn't take very long to render the animation. That's why they were able to put Saddam Hussein in that episode 3 days after he was captured.

2004-01-31 11:25:43 PM
Newfoundland, eh. So are you pissed the NEW Canadian Prime Minister outlawed sodomy.

2004-01-31 11:37:39 PM
Watch out for Scott! He's a dick!

2004-01-31 11:38:45 PM
A true fan of S.P. here...but a few of the episodes, notably the one about "Raisens" just were not up to spec. Too many soft, cutesy sacharine edges (godammit as Cartman would say).

2004-01-31 11:44:12 PM
I thought "Raisins" was hilarious.

"I'd rather be a whiney little pussy than a faggy goth kid."

2004-01-31 11:44:16 PM
witty_name, just remember that any kind of Ontario accent is more obvious to me because I'm coming from out east (nobody says "eh" in Newfoundland, as an example) Moreover, the whole "aboot"-dialect stereotype is just an exaggeration anyway.

TheJoe03: ha ha. YOU GOT A PURDY MOUTH

2004-01-31 11:46:36 PM
I'm in Canada and I saw it when it aired... on the east coast. Thanks bittorrent.

Nickers

Well, I guess if you have an ILLEGAL satellite dish, you have Comedy Central.

The rest of Canada has to watch Comedy Network, or CH, the only 2 people who are LEGALLY broadcasting South Park in Canada.

I would have my DirecTV from the states here if I faced the right way from my building, but given the choice of viewing the ocean and having digital cable, or looking at the building next to me and having a dish...well, I chose the view. =D

2004-01-31 11:50:56 PM
Follow the only road!

2004-01-31 11:53:16 PM
This article is the first time I've read a story in my local newspaper before it appeared on FARK (or the internet...same thing).
But then again...I do live in Canada. Oh, gotta go; time to feed my polar bear.

I go up to my aunt's house in Canada during the summer.

Everything on TV there was cool when I was a kid.

Seriously, Teletoon had ABC's "Bugs Bunny And Tweety Show" from 1987 on and I flipped out.

2004-02-01 12:01:37 AM
the really odd thing that this "new" has already been shown in Australia which is a weird first.

2004-02-01 12:02:18 AM
Yeah, I thought "Raisins" was one of the best episodes this season.

Another quote:
"Stan says you're a coont... you're a coont... Stan says you're a coont... coont..."
"Well tell Stan to fark off!" [Storms off]
"Stan says you're a continuing source of inspiration to him."

I can't believe they actually got Comedy Central to air that... pure genius.

Yaaaaaawn....
