When someone is referred to as "homeless", it is generally implied that they are destitute.

That guy is not destitute. He's not needy. He's a weapon-grade asshole with his sorry selection of justifications.

No. It's not the same.

Because their income may just barely cover these items and honestly, it's necessary for families these days to be able to communicate with the outside world and have a way to entertain their families and kids.

I know some families who never go to movies or museums because they can't afford it, even on free admission days because gas might be too much. But they do a lot of watching PBS, Discovery Channel, and have movie nights on weekends which they otherwise couldn't afford. I also know some families where a parent or grandparent may be paying for cell phone service or cable for the kids. Just like I know some aunties and uncles who chip in for that nice pair of shoes or coat you see a kid wearing.

I despise people like you who expect poor people to walk around wearing sackcloth and ashes, heads and eyes down and dress and act with the humility you think they should be punished with for the crime of being poor. But for all the outward trappings you think they shouldn't have, there are many other ways they go without that having a cell phone wouldn't make one bit of difference about.

Don't be so damned judgmental about poverty.

Landlines are like 5 bucks per month these days. And whatever happened to entertaining kids by putting them to work? Would solve the childhood obesity problem, too.

I know that the cops assert no crime was committed, but isn't "taking by deception" illegal regardless of the fact that the food bank intended to give it to people in need, not douchenozzles? Then again, given the views of the average cop on weed I'd think that they'd charge him if they could.

There is a given subset of people of all genders, races and creeds who, essentially, get off the bus at age 11 and stay there.  And they're waiting for the world to catch on to how cool they are.  We usually make them marginally famous, employed politicians or pundits.

Nah. Take a bat to him in ways that won't kill him but will leave him unable to walk, talk, use his hands or pee standing up even with expensive surgery.
