McDonalds is Scottish. And don't give me that "no true Scotsman" crap.

A food poor tax. Ireland, Scotland, and Wales remember how this goes...

When you are drinking, salty and greasy are the only food that taste good. When you drink all the time, salty and greasy are the only thing you eat.

If deep fried Mars bar is considered bad, I don't wanna live anymore...

Biff_Steel:

Top of my list of foods to only eat once a year. I have too much heart disease in the family history to risk more than that.

Salt and fat do not cause heart disease or cancer.

Their "dietary guidelines" probably do.

Eating like the English might prevent deaths, but can you really call that living?

2014-02-26 09:06:13 AM
This crap only matters if you socialize the risk while privatizing the reward.  Stop putting everyone on the healthcare dole, and let the chips fall where they will.

/chips, get it?

So, Deep-fried Mars Bars, Deep-fried Pizza, Deep-fried fish with Deep-fried chips aren't part of a healthy diet?  UNPOSSIBLE!!!

At least there's Scotch...

Those things are freaking delicious.

More than one every few months and you're just asking for a heart attack though.

When I lived "oop north" (Sunderland to be exact) there was a Chippy that we used to use which would batter and deep fry almost any confectionery.

/deep fried Cadbury Creme Eggs are lethal.

They can take our lives, but they will never take our Frorar bridie!

/They also can't take our cock-a-leekie, finnan haddie, collops, tipsy Laird, howtowdie with Drappit eggs or our mince and tatties
/The rollmops they can have

Jeebus. Alton Brown has a recipe for rollmops. If you just ate breakfast you might not want to look...

To be fair, if all I had available to eat was English food, I'd probably be a lot skinnier.

Your argument is toothless.

The only thing better than a deep-fried Scotch egg is a grilled Scotch egg. I think I'll whip up half a dozen this weekend.

If any of you are ever in North London, near Kentish Town, there is a pub there called the Bull and Last which does the best Scotch Eggs you will ever eat.  Served warm with Colman's mustard - they're phenomenally good.

/Scotch Egg, not Scottish Egg

Did I just see a plate of eggs with farking carrots on the plate???? I left you guys alone when I first learned what haggis was, but this is just too much.
PS Every time I think "scottish" I hear Spud's voice in my head (Spud from Trainspotting)
PPS You guys are lucky to have Irvine Welsh, he is a great writer.

You can say this about any aspect of Scottish culture, really.

Tip for identifying a scotsman: Every clan has a different tartan, or pattern of plaid, from which is cut their kilt.  Simply go up to a scotsman and lift the hem of their kilt.  If they have a quarter-pounder, they are a MacDonald.

Actually I have both put on a kilt and tossed a caber (Only did it successfully once, the caber not the kilt, although a great kilt does takes some time, the caber was farking heavy).  And I was married in a kilt, looked damn good IMHO!

Also two of my favorite meals ever were in Scotland, the Haggis was amazing and the lunch at one of the pubs on the Royal mile.  My wife still raves about it.  I've had haggis here in the states and it was dogfood, in Edinburgh it was delicious.
