I have to say I like where Jimmy Fallon is going with this. Bring on celebrities, play games with them. I mean why not?

I'm not a fan of late night shows in general, but his approach seems to be at least mildly interesting so far.

But the whole hashtag thing has been played out. Please no more hashtag jokes.

It would have been better if Paul Rudd had known the songs he was doing.

History of Rap?  Check.  Ragtime Gals?  Check.  Lip-Sync battle?  Check.  All we are missing is....

Songs done with classroom instruments
Neil Young
Bruce Springsteen

Any other bits I am leaving out?

Jimmy Fallon will have a long successful tenure as host of the Tonight Show.

Feel free to screen cap this and throw it in my face in 6 months if Leno's back again.

I dunno, part of me feels like the lip syncing bit belongs to drag queens and like Cher, Brucci makeup, and size 12 pink cha-cha heels, should remain theirs and theirs alone.

OK, Granddad! Can't the freak and rainbow flags be hoisted on the same pole?

/wait...that came out wrong.

I don't watch Fallon, but it seems like this gag hit its zenith when Shatner did Rihanna's Umbrella on Conan.

Although the captain of the starship Enterprise doesn't lip sync.

Anyway, I guess like a tree falling in the woods, a joke told on basic cable makes no sound.

I think people should be more respectful of the Tonite Show's first black host.

Bill Clinton hosted the Tonight Show?

The thing about Fallon is that even though he may not be funny, he seems like a really nice dude.

Holy shiat, Paul Rudd is one sexy mofo!

I couldn't stand Fallon on SNL, but lately he's starting to grow on me. Already like him better than that asshole Leno.

He seems to genuinely enjoy what he is doing which is usually a marker for success.

in one week Fallon has been more entertaining than Leno's last 20 years

/Leno was some lame assed shiat

Fallon isn't going to be able to make all guests jump through hoops every night.

And fawning media reports are already getting old. HEY LOOK! JACK BLACK SKIPPED A ROPE AND FARTED THE ALPHABET ON JIMMY FALLON!

Good to know. The next time I want to watch something completely devoid of edge, sarcasm or wit, I'll tune right in.

Otherwise I'll watch Craig Ferguson clips on YouTube.

You ain't lying. Saw some Carson on YouTube. So many clips where his comic timing and reactions put the joke over the top. All the hosts seem to have great classic or viral clips. Except Leno. Watching his best bloopers reel made me realize not much happened in his 20 years. Anything memorable was about his guests. He is totally out of his element outside the monologue and desk bits. He is painfully awkward when the crew or a guest tries to pull a prank on him or give him a verbal jab. He can't seem to handle playing the fool or looking bad even for an instant. Carson and Conan ruled at that.

....That's it, I'm adding his show to my DVR.

The only celebrity talk show I watch is Graham Norton and as I type this I'm chuckling to myself about Bill Murray and Matt Damon dogging the Downton Abbey guy last week.

I don't know who Graham Norton is, nor do I watch Downton Abbey, but I am gonna check out that episode.

It's almost as if they had time (lots of time) to rehearse that and do the camera cues and everything.....but I'm sure it was all just ad-libbed, on the spot.

Even the American guests know and tolerate Norton's gay banter/insults/Chair of Death. He's the opposite of every American host in that even his fawning is slightly biatchy and rude.

He's not really going anywhere with it. He did the exact same thing on his other show. It's part of why he's so successful at this.
