Because to many, that little circle is the world.

I live in Roanoke, VA and I have met people in their 50s who have quite literally never been more than an hour's drive from their home.

I'm 50, and have spent my life (most of it) withing 15 miles of where I am now. I've spent 50 years watching the weather in the same place, in other words. I have seen winters grow warmer. I never saw rain in February in Denver until 1990 or so. To deny what I have observed in my little slice of the world would be absurd.

The politico-scientific consensus, however, that Western nations must throttle their energy use while Beijing emits unlimited and ever increasing amounts of greenhouse gases (along with heavy metals, sulfuric acid and countless other toxins) and this will somehow stop the oceans from rising if you buy enough carbon credits is absurd. The US exported its manufacturing base to Asia, and with it our pollution. America cannot continue to consume as we do and still claim to be "green" in any capacity. The industrial pollution is still there - it's just killing yellow people now instead of us decent folk.

I've studied dissenting opinions. No serious person claims that there has not been measurable climate change in the last 50-60 years. Many serious people, however, disagree with the conclusion that man caused most of it, or enough to be the "tipping point" even.

I'm all for the minimalist lifestyle. It suits me very well. I believe a retail economy that makes 90% of its sales in December is insane and unsustainable. But if someone else wants to be Mr Big Consumer with the new crossover SUV and jet ski, who am I to stop him? I've always been pro choice.

Launch Code: It's 25 degrees here in central PA. With the global warming factor it feels like 15 degrees. The forecast is calling for an another inch of climate change by morning.

I'm sure you think your snark is very clever, but about that....

I have 5 feet of climate change stacked up on my lawn over the last 12 weeks.  Most we've seen in 20 years.

Thank God for Global Warming.  I'd have frozen to death by now without it!

The ice cap would have grown more if that cold air had stayed in the Arctic instead of coming down south. Can you make ice cubes faster by leaving your freezer door open?

And the cold weather is just a local effect. Overall, January 2014 was the 3rd warmest January since 1880.

This has been one of the worst winters I can remember here in North Jersey. I hate the cold, I hate shoveling, I hate the darkness, I hate cabin fever...I pretty much hate everything about winter.
