Per TPM's article on this, the idiot writing this bill thinks that without it, "we'll have unisex bathrooms in America."

Did you realize that almost every person has a unisex bathroom  in their house?! And children even use them!

Because of course.

Why the hell should the government keep gay people from playing a sport? How is that even slightly a government issue?

This surge of anti-gay sentiment is going to backfire on them. I just hope that sexual orientation is added as a federally protected class as soon as humanly possible so all of this derp can finally stop.

So, you're perfectly OK with upright, hard working, married (or even single) heterosexuals being exposed to The Gay???  The end result is most likely the destruction of  the nuclear family!!!

That's up from 21 yesterday. This guy is small potatoes. Liberal groups were key to this publicity stunt.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that won't stop it, at least not for long. Orientation is a protected class in Canada and the Conservatives are starting up all this nonsense again, officially adopting the position that "sincerely held religious belief" should be an absolute defense against charges/accusations of (any, not just anti-gay) discrimination.

I don't see the point of a lobby strategy that directly targets stupid bigot people with no perception of reality whatsoever. You might as well tack on "no Muslims allowed" on that bill too considering that the LGBT is akin to ideology now.

Religion is protected at a national level, sexual orientation is not.

That is, they WOULD say "no Muslims" if it wasn't guaranteed to get smacked down. With this, they can at least pretend it won't.

Yeah I did have a passing mention of that in another thread yesterday.  I'm sure that Arlington, NO or Miami would love to get that SB at Arizona's expense.

What's all the fuss over the comments? They seem no more idiotic and/or incoherent than most other public forum comments (present company excepted, of course). Even the comments with a fairly benign CNN article will be awash in derpahol as often as not, never mind the freeper magnets and other known right-wing hangouts.

Please no! Women's bathrooms are usually horrific hellscapes of bio-hazard and trash (some rural men's rest stood may be worse but on average women's rooms are significantly worse in every business I have ever worked in).

Yeah and I can totally imagine that will stand up to a court challenge.  I for one rue the day the Reform Party stopped buggering cows for Jesus out west, and swept into Ottawa to buy the old Progressive Conservative party at a fire sale price.  I miss Joe Clark.  Hell I almost miss Mulroney (haha no, not really)

This. I ran several petrol stations in metropolitan areas, and the female restrooms were a cross between a bio-warfare factory and a mink farm. Seriously ladies, how hard is it to actually put the used tampon insertion bit in the empty trash? Could you possibly not leak blood everywhere when pulling the string over the toilet? Could you have possibly not missed and let that pad flop on the ground and leave it there? I'm not going to be nice: That smell is bleach, regular, old-fashioned bleach. We bleached everything in the ladies room (ironically, in the men's room we only had to bleach around the toilets / urinals, standard cleaner everywhere else) because you get bio-gunk everywhere. I used to think guys were messy, but seriously, women pi$sed on the floor and toilets as much as (if not more than) men!

After bar? 'HOLY MOTHER OF GOD WHAT HAPPENED IN HERE?!?!?!?!? WHAT IS THAT STINK?!?!?!? OH GOD, WHAT IS ALL THAT ON THE FLOOR?!!!!?' (words of a new employee, first night shift on the weekend, he was an Army PFC staying temporarily at the VA - incidentally it was pi$s, vomit, blood, a blood-filled pad or two, tampon applicators, one douche kit leftovers, and one pair of ruined lacy underwear - there was probably more including beer bottles and such, but it was a while ago)

Seriously ladies, you lose all cleanliness credibility.
