That'll make you feel like Hercules.

This just in: not all calories are the same. Else, we could all live off of the pure caloric goodness of alcohol.

Ideally since it's a coffee there should be none.

1) This looks like someone trying to rip off the style of the Oatmeal.

2) The classic site "what does 200 calories look like" did this way better way earlier.

Hmmmm and now you are going to tell me that it also has the volume of 12 ketchup packages.

Great. Now I have to change your favorite text again.

You'd need a quart of Jim Beam to hit 2000 calories.  Sounds like a fun day.

Since the write is Matthew Inman's girlfriend, I wouldn't say she's trying to rip anyone off.  He probably drew it.

I like the Cadbury Creme Egg comparison.  One 16oz Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha (520 cal, 75 g sugar) contains a little bit less calories and sugar than 4 Cadbury Creme Eggs (150 cal, 20g each).

Are you trying to suggest that the five hundred calories from a fancy coffee drink with tons of sugar and cream are somehow better?

I'm not suggesting. I'm saying that 500 calories from one type of food aren't the same as 500 calories from another type of food. So saying that a drinking a fancy coffee drink is the same as eating 130 goldfish crackers is disingenuous.

It takes more than just calories to sustain you.  You need vitamins and protein and carbs and other stuff.

And I'm not sure which is worse for you, the calories in the mocha or the goldfish.  I'm not consuming either one.

Nice to know that one of their drinks is equal to nearly 4 Cokes.   I've only had one Coke today and now I sort of want another one.

Same with me.

Coffee is bitter. If you put enough sweetener in it to make sweet then you don't like coffee.

Actually, those two are probably fairly comparable. All carbs. Perhaps 130 crackers might have 1 gram of fiber, but both are mostly carbs with some fat.

If they'd compared to something with protein, your point would hold better.

Yet just a mere 10 beers or so if you like ales. Still not a bad night.

190 calories for a slice of pizza? That's a tiny slice.

Want to make your Starbucks drink a lot healthier? Get a tall instead of a grande and get it without whipped cream. Every time I see a post about how unhealthy starbucks is, they always include the nutrition info with whipped cream -- however, it seems like a lot of people, including myself, get it without.

For example: the article says a mocha has 330 calories. Ok, not so great. But if you get a tall mocha with no whip suddenly it's just 200 calories and 26g of sugar (like half a can of Coke I think?). Get it with skim milk and now it's 170 calories. Not such a big health problem on its own.

//Or, to look at it another way, unless you're finishing your drink to the very bottom and slurping down the whipped cream too, it's not as bad as you might think.

Great. I could totally use a tall peppermint Splenda no-whip double shot right now.
