johnnieconnie: Why does there need to be a point break remake? The first one was near perfection. But I guess this is for the under 20 crowd? Because they can't appreciate the classics./off my lawn//sheds tear for Patrick Swayze
Mugato: johnnieconnie: Why does there need to be a point break remake? The first one was near perfection. But I guess this is for the under 20 crowd? Because they can't appreciate the classics./off my lawn//sheds tear for Patrick SwayzeIt's the same shiat with Robocop and Total Recall. And Carrie. Who in their right mind would say that any of those remakes were better than the original (granted, I didn't see the Carrie remake but I have friends who have and they said it was lame)? In the 70s and most of the 80s, either one had VCRs or renting movies was a pain in the ass. So if you missed a movie in the theater that was it. And there were far fewer remakes then than now, when you can just download the original for free or whatever nominal monthly cost some service is.Anyway, they already remade Point Break, only with car racing instead of surfing.
johnnieconnie: Why does there need to be a point break remake?
Rapmaster2000: OK, but who will play Warchild?
unlikely: I guess Swayze was 38 when he did it. Still, seems kind of old for and extreme thrillseeking surfer. Guys that age who do "extreme" stuff always seem to be desperately clinging to fleeting youth.
Trade Secret: Doesn't the term "point break" have to do with surfing? Some movies need to be redone, this one does not./speak into the microphone, squid brain
H31N0US: Rapmaster2000: OK, but who will play Warchild? And will he back off this time? And was that piece of meat in Mexico really Rosie? Those questions, and others like it, are why this remake is necessary.
theflatline: Who are they gonna get to play Lori Petty? Since these days she looks like a butch Elvis Costello.[img2.wikia.nocookie.net image 415x563]
Lt. Cheese Weasel: theflatline: Who are they gonna get to play Lori Petty? Since these days she looks like a butch Elvis Costello.[img2.wikia.nocookie.net image 415x563]Shattered dreams....she's not aging very well.
Dow Jones and the Temple of Doom: Gerald Butler was good in 300, but he seems very "off" for this role. Not that this remake is a good idea, but Owen Wilson could have really pulled this off, his first charismatic villain role.
MurphyMurphy: But who's going to play the prepubescent boy love-interest opposite Johnny Utah?
Semper IvXx: No matter how hard you try to nostalgia Point Break into some sort of classic piece of cinema, it was a standard 80s flick that happened to have people in it that became famous so got a cult following. It wasn't Citizen Kane, maybe someone else can make it into something noteworthy.Probably not, it will probably blow like most other remakes. But hey, luckily no one forces you to go to the movies or rent DVDs of things you don't want to see. So you're all safe, no one will force you to watch the remake of a shiatty 80s movie.
N4LG4s: The original Point break had an "R" rating.

theflatline: Lori Petty
MrEricSir: I've never seen it, but there's a stage version called Point Break Live! where they randomly pick someone from the audience to play Keanu's part.
N4LG4s: The original Point break had an "R" rating. If the hollywood studio is going to push a PG13 rating for the remake then..[www.quickmeme.com image 640x532]
