That's a new metaphor for death for me. I guess when you live in Australia, all the usual metaphors for death start to sound cliche pretty quickly.

The volcanoes are probably just underground, biding their time, and waiting for the perfect time to ambush.

I have a sneaking suspicion that there are creatures that remain undiscovered in Australia to this day because no-one has lived to tell the tale about them.

Anyway, here's one that won't kill you: the Wombat!

But then you get a giant killer spider surfing on a croc. That's a serious "Crikey, let it just be a stunt for a Fosters commercial" moment.

/coming up next on SyFy, it's Croc Surfin' Spideroos, starring Dean Cain, Yahoo Serious, and the second girl to the left of Robert Palmer in that old "Addicted To Love" video.

You can still own guns, esp. for hunting or target shooting.  You cannot own pistols (cept for target shooting), automatics/semiautomatics (they seem only good for killing people) and the size of magazines has been severely restricted (think the max is 5 rounds - if you cannot kill that boar with a couple of shots then you shouldn't be hunting.)

Surprisingly we haven't had a mass killing involving a nut with a gun since we did this.  Strange I know.

Morans!
Plenty of guns here and plenty of hunting.
The NRA in the US keeps going on about how Aussies were disarmed, but that is a load of rubbish. The regulations were tightened. No more hunting a rabbit with a Chinese AK47, and no handguns but that is about it.
Most Aussies don't feel the need to have an Uzi under the pillow in case of 'bad guys' (or kids carrying skittles) and never did. Most hunters here have always used a basic bolt action and the regulations really made no difference to 99.9% of us.

As for the crocodiles, since the 1970s hunting them has been banned. Hunting most native species is either illegal or tightly controlled. So, I can go after roos but I need an ear tag for them to show it was part of the official cull. And I can go after magpie geese during the right season.
The ban on croc hunting was done because it was theorised that by taking all the big ones we were removing natural controls (the big ones eat the small ones and control their territory). I live in croc country and I would say it was a nice theory, but it hasn't worked. Perhaps, because the natural system was broken it can't return? Whatever the reason, we are getting more crocs and they are going further inland. Pools which have always been safe to swim in no longer are, there is a big call in the NT to bring back the cull, but as our government is a long way away it seems unlikely it will happen. Folk down south like hiving this wild place up north (even if they are too scared to visit).
