I'll reserve my outrage for when it gets a sponsor in the House or Senate. For now, I'll just call this guy a bigot.

I'm not sure what I find more disturbing: that someone is that concerned about gay players in the NFL or that a lobbyist is the one writing this legislation.

Gay people can fight our wars, but they can't play our sports.

Well, they write all the other Republican legislation, so what difference is there?

Let me rephrase: "or that a lobbyist is the one writing this legislation and is being so brazen about it."

hey, asshole, you know those guys who wanted to prevent jackie robinson from playing? you know how history treated them? well, you're that guy for 2014. think about that.

These anti-gay activists sure do spend a lot of time thinking about gay shower sex

In a statement, Burkman wrote that "We are losing our decency as a nation. Imagine your son being forced to shower with a gay man. That's a horrifying prospect for every mom in the country. What in the world has this nation come to?"

They already are showering with gay men, you ignorant fark.

And the world has somehow managed to continue revolving on its axis.

This. Every time I hear a story about gay men and sports, the talk always goes to "what happens in the locker room".

Do people think its some kind of 70s Greenwich Village bathhouse or something?

What a bigot. That bill wouldn't necessarily ban gay athletes from the NFL, it would just stop them from coming out.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and suggest that this asshole spends an inordinate amount of time imagining boys(and men, including himself) showering with a gay man.

I can guarantee you that I showered with at least two gay men multiple times while I was a collegiate swimmer (and possibly while I was a club and high school swimmer too). I was not scarred whatsoever by these events.

As much as this dude might fantasize about it, I'm pretty sure, as a general rule, no gay dudes are going to fark him in the ass just because happens to be physically present in a bathroom or locker room with one.  I know that probably disappoints him but it just ain't gonna happen.

I think it's funny that the GOP would take so strongly against gay rights right now at a time when people are more and more supportive of gays and gay rights. I feel like they are living in some sort of bizarro world. I mean I've felt this for a while but it's like:

"Hey what do most people support?"
"Raising the minimum wage. Fixing healthcare. Fighting for gay rights."
"OK. Let's fight the minimum wage, sabotage healthcare fixes, and create laws against gay rights."
"Sir, but that's--"
"That's good politics, son. You could learn a thing or two."

*2016 presidential election*
"Boy we really got creamed that time."
"Sir, they won Texas. "
"Man, I gotta be honest. I did not see that coming."

I always enjoyed the look on the faces of skinheads when they got ejected by one of my crew who was gay, because it was always entertaining to watch them slink off after getting their asses kicked by, in their own words, "a f*cking f*ggot." Especially after delivering such an epithet. And therein lies the fear: that gay athletes are going to make their manly menfolk sports heroes look bad, by mincing around, and then beating the snot out of them on the field. Never mind that there have been plenty of athletes who've just been closeted, the same as there have been plenty of gay troops who've served with distinction, but who just kept in the closet. The closet isn't good enough, you tool.

He is right, in a sense, We are losing our decency as a nation. Just in that folks are thinking that it's fine and dandy to be bigots and wear that as a matter of pride. Don't bring none, won't be none. Problem is, these folks are poking bears in the nose, and then crying when they're getting chased down the road when the f*cker wakes up...

Here's a pic of the guy.  They probably would do it if he asked them to, and therein lies his concern--he's probably worried that he wouldn't be able to resist the temptation to ask them to:

Just speaking statistically you must have.

I was closeted until my mid 20s.  But up to that point I was a runner in high school and part of college, and lived a fraternity house for 3 years where the showers were totally open.

So OK, maybe if I were out things would have been different.  Maybe my pals would have felt differently.  But the fact remains:  I was gay, and they were showering with me.  I didn't have uncontrolled boners, and to my knowledge none of them caught teh ghey from me.

Remember, this is America where you can be anything you want to be.  Unless you're gay.  That's where we draw the line.

Oh, no, I meant that two of the people on the team later came out as gay. The "at least" part is that some of the other members of my teams might be gay and I simply don't know that they are at this point in time.

Burkman, however believes that "f the NFL has no morals and no values, then Congress must find values for it."

The NFL has the moral certitude to be able to withstand child molesters, drunk drivers (3), drug addicts (4), gambling cheats, guys who beat their girlfriends, prostitution johns, wife-beaters, street racers, and murderers (2).  And that's just in the five months or so since the 2013 Super Bowl.  That's not even counting such trifling matters such as dog-fighting, rape, drug trafficking, and assorted drug-dealing.

But gays?  If we let them into the NFL - why it'll turn into a morass of debauchery and sin!
