Christie, Walker, Kasich, Jeb Bush, Pence, Perry, Sandoval, and Martinez.

TFA also only suggest Governor Susan Martinez for Veep, which seems stupid; none of the other clowns have a hope in hell if Hillary Clinton is the Democratic nominee, while a female GOP candidate for POTUS would at least have novelty value -- unless she's as inept as Palin?

Only two that speak Spanish? Well, to many of the core constituency of the GOP these days "bilingual" sounds like some sort of sexual deviancy.

to be fair I'd bet that Jeb speaks Spanish too given that his wife was born in Mexico, but yeah those two are clearly mentioned pretty much BECAUSE they are Hispanic and there are people who really believe that Obama was only elected because liberals felt they had no choice but to vote for the minority candidate

George P. Bush, Jed's son, has also been floated as a potential future Presidential candidate and he speaks Spanish, too.

I get the feeling that Jeb probably would have made a better President than Dubya (I know), but Dubya has probably irreparably sullied the brand name.

What are the odds of the next President either taking over just in time for a recession or just after one has started? Or has the recovery been so slow as to delay the next one a few years?

There's no need to fret.  The GOP has had an unofficial system in place since the 80s.  Whoever comes in second with the RNC nomination process gets the next RNC nomination.  The last time around, it was Santorum who came in #2, ironically enough.

/do you see what I did there?

Whatever.... I don't even bother listening to these farking GOP clowns anymore. There isn't any point. Even the Republicans who can manage to go a week without saying something mind-numbingly offensive and stupid are going to support the same regressive bullshiat the GOP have been pushing since at least the 80s.

Got an (R) next to your name? Thanks, but no thanks. Same goes for "Moderate Republicans" and "Libertarians".

By the time the primary comes around they'll be pretending to not understand Spanish.

Knowing how to speak it is a negative to the Republican base.

Jeb was SUPPOSED to be president.  Papa Bush (George HW) intended it that was.  W was never even supposed to run.   In point of fact, W's entire poltical career was an extended middle finger to his father, not just by W, but more importantly by Karl Rove who was fired for being a Sleaze-ball by HW, at which point he latched on to W who had been given some make-work with his Dad's campaign, and determined to mold him into a political super-star just to show HW what he was missing.

For 2014, I would LOVE it if the D's went on the full offensive regarding the GOP stupidity.  Rather than try to be 'above it all' and end up playing a lot of defense, go on the offensive.  Tie EVERY singole GOP candidate to the likes of the most ridiculous statements from the Tea party lately.

I can see it now, a nondescript GOP candidate's face, overlapped with Norquist's, Palin's, Aikin's, Limbaugh's, Santorum's, Bachmann's, all the loonies.  Play loops of the most ludicrous statements from the last five years.  End with the theme from loony-toons and the phrase "This is what they actually believe.  Yes, all of them"

If Bush was the prototype, I imagined Palin more like an Electronic Arts software rollout - did nothing it was promised to do, needlessly irritated the customers, and further (and forever) sank brand names that had been trusted in the past.

Angela Lansbury's Merkin: What are the odds of the next President either taking over just in time for a recession or just after one has started? Or has the recovery been so slow as to delay the next one a few years?

Yeah the don't just come based on time they are based on economic factors. Usually what happens is the economy is going well and then a bubble gets created in  sector (last was real estate) and then that market collapses cause a down turn.

So yes usually you have to have an economy going well for awhile before a down turn unless it's a double dip, but it looks like our economy is doing well enough not to dip again into recession just from the current negative factors.

Gov. John Kasich of Ohio. ... Meanwhile, his move as governor to expand Medicaid eligibility to tens of thousands of people with addiction and mental illness disorders, against the views of many conservatives in his own party, appealed to independents.

Which means it will be utterly impossible for him to win the nomination, what with having capitulated to Obamacare and druggy criminals like Chamberlain to Hitler.

I don't think they're going to hold to that.

Say what you will about Reagan, Bush, Dole, Bush, McCain, etc, they were all pretty generic "Old white man, standard, 1 each".

So having a "First loser wins" made sense because the first loser could combine HIS not-quite-winning campaign with all of the support from the last guy.

But with Santorum, I think there's enough outright disgust that it won't happen.

Imagine how hilarious it would be if people in the Democratic Party had no qualms about trolling GOP primaries . . .

"Do you think executions of criminals should be televised to deter crime?"

"Would you call yourself a 'Tea Party' candidate?"
