So some of them had health care before?

I am outraged.

What happens is that Republicans are given a golden ticket to go as high as three Pinocchios when trying to tear him down.

2014-02-24 11:36:44 AM
Obama is mistaken, he says that 7 million people will be helped by the medicaid expansion when actually only about 2 million people will be helped by it .

This is worse than Benghazi.

those type of questions are meaningless when applied to history's greatest monster and his sinister time traveling device. Wake up sheeple.

Fart_Machine: Liberal fact checker?

came here to say this.

2014-02-24 12:01:43 PM
Well, one thing that happens is I mock stupid-mitter for his idiotic assumption that fact checkers in the media are "liberal".

2014-02-24 12:02:00 PM
Is this the Medicaid expansion that GOP governors refuse to accept? Because fark the poor and that blah guy?

2014-02-24 12:02:21 PM
Meh, so he stinks at the numbers and pulled some out of his ass. Who cares?

While it's pretty clear that 7 million is way too high, finding out the actual number is largely a guessing game (unless someone wants to comb through Medicaid records).

It is weird, though that the "lie" part of this statement is the "for the first time", and THAT's what's worth 4 Pinocchios. It's like if I tell you that this new smartphone will allow you to access billions of apps that you couldn't before - yes, you switched from a new carrier and OS, but those apps were always "available".

To be fair, conservative fact checker is a much easier job since conservatives prefer rhetoric, platitudes and blind faith.

Fact checkers are guessing.

2014-02-24 12:05:46 PM
I've been fact checking both sides for awhile now. They both lie. All politicians do. I have however noted a differance.

The left is really good at half lies, they distort something to make it seem true.

The right just tells outright falsehoods. Now we have a chicken s*it press that won't call them on it.

Why do Republicans hate the idea of poor people getting health care?  What do they have against seeing other Americans actually having an improvement in quality of life?

2014-02-24 12:06:31 PM
Washington Post & liberal do not go in the same sentence, subby.  Unless it is something like "Washington Post accuses liberals of potato!"

2014-02-24 12:06:53 PM
Well, I'm certainly convinced. Single payer it is, then!

2014-02-24 12:06:57 PM
he's exagerating the success...
They also thought more young people with gainful employment would be signing up.

2014-02-24 12:06:58 PM
Isn't that the same liberal fact checker who called b.s. on Obama's "act of terror" and "you can keep your health plan" comments?

Obviously a right-wing operative.

Liberals are afraid of someone suffering who doesn't deserve it.  Conservatives are afraid of someone not suffering who does deserve it.

It actually gives the Republicans a free pass on a 12 Pinocchio Derp Storm to compensate for the liberal media's liberal bias when reporting on things that the GOP says that are flat out lies not only in this reality but in almost all parallel realities bearing any resemblance to this one.

2014-02-24 12:08:37 PM
While admittedly, this whole kerfuffle is new to me, it seems to me all it would take is a quick explanation of the word "access" to The Washington Post and that would switch it's ruling from 4 pinocchios to 0.

the entire GOP platform is:

• take away healthcare from poor people
• take away healthcare rights from women
• take away marriage rights from gays
• restrict voting for minorities
• lower taxes for the super-wealthy
• remove safety regulations wherever possible
• promote evangelical christianity
• prevent brown people from getting US citizenship

and that's pretty much it. in short, they are a caricature of evil.

Giving someone who thinks math and science are a liberal conspiracy the license to do something they have to count as high as 3 for is generally a bad idea.

Poor people fear demanding better working conditions or asking for a raise when leaving a job risks your family's health.  Medicaid empowers the poor and hurts business owners.  Evil, abusive, exploitative business owners.

Therefore, Obama lied.

Reality has a liberal bias. Fact checkers deal in reality, therefore they are liberal by definition.

Man Fark sucks these days.  The author does a good job of explaining how the administration's numbers are hugely inflated by several hundred percent, and you get comments like this:

Simple analogy:  Obama's restaurant serves only sirloin and its all cooked medium-well.  Obama claims to have the best restaurant.  Republicans say "You Lie!" with the implication that their restaurant is better. Unfortunately, theRepublican's restaurant only serves plates of maggot-infested dog shiat.

The president should strive to be more precise with his language, or at least cite his sources. If he says "7 million" and "first time", then he should be certain about those numbers. He was already bitten in the ass by the "if you like your insurance/doctor, you can keep your insurance/doctor" thanks to the insurance companies and a bunch of idiots, so you'd think he'd have learned his lesson.

That being said, there's a whole lot of guess-work going on in that "fact check". Also, Obama said "access" to healthcare, not "have signed up for healthcare". Access includes all of the people who qualify, even those who haven't signed up yet.
