Almost half a joint is being held in evidence.

Call in the CSI.  We have a dangerous criminal donating clothes and plant matter to the homeless.

So what? Why are cops investigating... Oh, it's a "substantial" amount. Got it, Lou.

Odds are the weed was hidden in a jacket and someone (mom) made a charity run after cleaning out a closet.

Damnit, Mom! I told you to stay out of my room!

They're like the Guardian Angels, except now they Salvation Army doesn't help you if you're gay, and they try to turn you into them more fervently than actual needed assistance. I miss the SA of the 80s, even as a non-Christian I didn't feel so bad putting a dollar or something into the pot of those bell ringers; now I avoid it because they're more likely to attempt to convert a Jew to Christianity with that dollar instead of trying to help a homeless person off the street with that money.

Eh. They're a private entity and they believe in spreading their word.   You don't have to accept thier help if you don't want it. The worst i heard was they make you attend services.   I have a friend that has struggled with alchoholism for years, and without the Salvation Army,  I fear he  would be dead by now. And while he's not religious at all, puts up with it. There's worse things than having to attend a Catholic Mass. He's never mentioned "fervent efforts to  convert.  He has said they are very strict and it's actually for him a good thing that they are.. Perhaps different shelters/centers may be more fervent than others?

bucket_pup:

You jest, but mine probably would stick a label on it and put it on the shelve. Between moldy books, shiat stained clothes, and pre-torn furniture, it's clear the guys in the back room are blind.

...when the internet didn't exist and their handbook's stance on homosexuality was not as well known, and stories of discrimination were less likely to cause outrage outside of the chapter's local area? Was it seriously any different?

Reason #685 to not stash your stash when you're stoned.

My concern is more about how there are large portions of the populace that think this is a suitable substitution for government assistance for the poor - if you want help, you have to acquiesce to religious components of private aid programs.  It's BS.

Police are unsure of the identity of the donator, but are fairly certain their last name isn't "Bogart".

What about the dead hooker I donated last week?

stuffy: What about the dead hooker I donated last week?

The workers in the sorting room  found her on the first day in the donation box. . Like most of the good stuff that comes in they snuck her out and is now secretly being traded amoung the members of the dorms.

Too bad the Salvation Army isn't a worthwhile organization.
