Tebow has a huge fanbase in Colorado. Mostly for the lulz, I suppose, but I'm sure there are some earnest Broncos fans who want him back after Manning shiat all over himself at the Superbowl last month.

All 11 offensive players will be eligible to receive the ball, depending on where they line up

I'm a Canadian and very proud CFL (Saskatchewan Roughriders) fan, and I think that this rule is farking stupid.  Essentially they are just starting a Rugby with pads league.

Now if a league were to start up that would be comparable to salary and therefore skill size, to the CFL you could have something interesting, interleague games, even a 'North American Bowl game' every year.

Feel free to send me the cheque now

Does this mean Tebow has finally come to the realization that he can't play QB in the NFL?

I just want to say that Woody Paige is a crappy "sports journalist".  I use that term generously.   Anyway, can't Tebow go away now?

OK, so it's for a new league, not the NFL.

Why not have Tebow on one of the teams? He's generated headlines, for better or worse. Sounds like it's exactly what a new football league needs to get jump started.

So, I'll say it...this new league has some good folks in the graphics department...

Remember two years ago when you would read the never-ending Fark Tebow threads and people would say "Tim is a winning winner who just wins games."

So they're basically reviving a bunch of old USFL franchises? They're really going to bring back the Denver Gold?

Okay...whatever. Good luck with that.

If the Northwestern players win their right to unionize this has a good chance of finally working. It doesn't say in your link but will there be an age requirement or can someone sign out of high school?

Another leauge that they NFL will crush after a few years and be buried in the heap with the rest. The only way I could see this working is if they are in big/decent size markets with no NFL team, that are not close to a large NFL market and they get some sweet TV deal. And probably not being on during the NFL season would help too.

It would be nice to see him play in a league where his play-style works well, but I don't see this league working any better than the other ones, even if it is in the spring.

Although if they set it up as a kind of minor league for the NFL, it might work, maybe.

I have no idea but that would make things interesting.
I would like to see a true developmental football league.
An alternative for players not good enough for the top 25-30 big schools but good enough to get paid playing the sport and possibly become good enough to play in the NFL.

The new USFL plans to not go head-to-head with the NFL in terms of cities and schedule.
It may have a chance.

It won't work because he won't work. Kid wants something for nothing, just because he likes Jesus

It wd start in the Spring and end on July 4th. If you give players the option to sign right out of high school, it could develop into an ideal developmental league, although the NCAA would start going after it hard if/when high ranking players that had no interest in going to school started joing.

I don't think the startup league would be able to compete with the salary the top recruits get in college

Well, Tebow would be great for that....only if the pass ending up in the hands of the defense were a good thing too.

So not only is it another football league in a place where alternative football leagues have repeatedly been shown to be unwanted and unnecessary, but it's another football league based on a gimmick offense that gained a brief notoriety in high school football before being banned?

This seems entirely legitimate, and not at all like a media scam to raise some quite investor bucks.
