CNN's audience has tired of hearing a Brit weigh in American cultural issues, Morgan said in a story posted online Sunday.

Yeah, that's not it.

Yeah, I'm sure that's the reason and it has nothing to do with the fact that he's a smug, self-satisfied douche.

Amnestic: Damn. I hope he doesn't come back to Britain.

Given the way the Brooks/Coulson trial evidence seems to be implicating him, I suspect that will not happen. Nicaragua, perhaps.

Or perhaps that he is pretty close to being sucked into the whole phone hacking shambles in the UK and they don't want to be too close when that happens.

I think that pretty much confirms the inside view that he's about to be charged in the hacking scandal:

Jeremy Clarkson @JeremyClarkson  2h
Hmm. Morgan has told us for years that his ratings are sky high. So obv he wasn't sacked for that reason. Why else could it be, I wonder?

Boooom...hopefully his 'life stories' will be dropped next, and he'll hopefully go to jail and get buggered a lot.

My only concern is as has already been stated, is that we might be stuck with him back here in Britain.

The funny thing is that all the Conservatives who cheerlead Fox News, are too dumb to realize that Rupert Murdoch had Piers Morgan as the editor of one of the top English dailies...

It's quite an odd thing that American likes to keep giving second lives to the most deeply disliked has-beens at the bottom of the UK journalism industry.

Not quite to the level that Britain's probably about to turn on him, given there's an increasing chance of phone hacking charges.

On the plus side, British jails are generally far more pleasant than US jails.

The tribal gang culture that seems to be part of the majority of US jails doesn't really exist in the UK outside the obligatory sliver of far right, the number of violent assaults is far, far less (even one makes the national news), the number of rapes is far, far less, the internal drug culture doesn't exist to the same level, and most jails have pretty comprehensive education and rehabilitation programs. It's no Sweden camping-holiday style system, but compared to the US, it more like a slightly run-down and shabby boarding school rather than a Mad Max Thunder Dome.

Try this: Think of the dumbest statement you can. Now, say it out loud with a British accent. There. See how credible you sound?

Shawshank Redemption, English version:

Boggs: Right, guv'ner, I'm gonna open my clouds and sky and if you'd be a good chap and swallow what I give you, and then have a go at Mr. Rooster, whose bugle you broke, then we'll all get along right as rain, tickety-boo, what what.
Andy Dufresne: I dare say anything that goes in my North and South, you may end up losing, old bean.
Boggs: Oi, steady on, old chap. Do that and I should jolly well think about sticking this pike in your King Lear.
Andy Dufresne: Well, that's as may be, but you should be forewarned that a right good blow to the down the drains could result in a jolly hard bite down so that you'd need a jimmy to open my jackdaw.
Boggs: Tut-tut, aren't we the clever one? And where did you come across them brass tacks, then?
Andy Dufresne: It's from reading, innit? Tell you what, how about instead of the old in-and-out we have a nice cuppa instead?
Boggs: Right, pip-pip cheerio and god save the Queen.

I'm not sure how population has a direct impact on prison culture? You'd think it might even be the other way around, economies of scale and all that.

Add to that Clarkson punched Morgan in the face and Clarkson gets a thumbs up from me!

Morgan is a smug, self impressed douchebag. His arguments are full of vapid responses, red herrings and straw men.

2014-02-24 09:43:14 AM
There are going to be many attempts to make this political, and many of those are going to come down to people saying "This is what  happens when you mess with my Jesus-given right to bear arms!"

But I really think it just comes down to the simplest answer: Morgan is a douche, and viewers just didn't want to watch his show.

A more apt comparison would be 97,000 people in jail in the United Kingdom, versus 2.4 million for America (and like us, a grossly disproportionate amount are black).  You get a lot more unpleasantness in a community of 2.4 million than you do with 97,000.

Well, I think I'm gonna go to All around Pizza and Deli (the pizza shop Morgan tried to demonize) for lunch and celebrate!
