Minor correction: update your operating system. iOS 7.0.6 is the most current version as I type this.

I haven't updated to ios 7 for.... reasons. Am I OK?

2014-02-23 03:43:05 PM
I can't. No matter how much I remove from my phone, it tells me I don't have enough room.

2014-02-23 03:43:14 PM
Oh, and I'm not subby, but the same flaw exists in Mac OS X. Apple it will update that "very soon."

Needlessly Complicated: I haven't updated to ios 7 for.... reasons. Am I OK?

Nope. I had to update my iPod 4th gen and that isn't even compatible with iOS 7.

2014-02-23 03:45:12 PM
Not just iPhones, but iPads is my understanding.

I saw that there is an update for iOS 6 (6.1.6). Give it a shot.

I updated my ipad too.

Yes, it's built into iOS, so even Apple TVs are affected. Not sure how important it is to update those, but why take the chance?

How do you normally update your software? If you do it from the phone, the update is pretty small. If you update by plugging into iTunes, it's bigger, but I find that it is easier. It downloads the entire operating system installer (which can be huge) to your computer, then installs it on your iPhone/iPad. Updating via your phone only downloads the incremental install (the stuff that's different), so it's smaller, but it has to do everything on the phone, so, as I understand it, the phone's available storage space may limit what you can do with it.

I've tried it both ways and it just errors out each way. I have pretty much given up at this point. My phone works just fine, with out an update.

iOS 6 & 7 have been updated, as has TV.

OS X is being updated and a release should be later this week or early next. The betas have been in testing for a long time and are quite close to being finished.

So, don't bunch your panties, it's all being fixed. Also the chances of someone actually doing the hack to get your shiat is about the same as winning the lottery, getting hit by lightning, dying in a plane crash, or having group sex with Shakira, Beyonce, Kat Dennings and Lucy Liu.

I don't want to update my phone. It's run beautifully for years. I updated my last iphone. BIG MISTAKE. It never ran well and always got slower.

Why should I do this?

Well its to fix a huge security issue, so that might be important. Your call.

Also- if you are on OSX, stop using Safari, Mail, etc. until an update is released. Using Chrome or Firefox should keep you safe.

Is it only safari that's wonky, or the whole damn OS?

What even uses SSL if you're just derpin' on fark. My phone is a tertiary portal to the wired.

there are not people sitting around waiting to run a man-in-the-middle attack to spy on your fark posts and emails to mom from your home computer. if you're on public wifi, you don't want to be doing anything sensitive with your personal info like online banking anyway. the only people that really need to be concerned are businesses and computers on networks with sensitive data.

Updated the iPad this morning. Very quick and simple. Will get our iTouches done in the next hour or so. Not terribly concerned. Don't usually do that much on public networks.

I have never understood people who do online banking in coffee shops. But I have seen it many many times.

I'm just afraid OS 7 will bork my 4s.

My 3G was GREAT for like six months. Then I updated the OS and for the next year a half, till I could upgrade, it ran like shiat. It still runs like shiat when I use it as an extra ipod on long trips.
