Why the insistence on nationalizing the Games that were created to overlook political and nationalistic boundaries?

Redlit?  Not one damned thread to post my pics in?  Watched the game from the Rose and Crown in Calgary.  They turned lots of people away.  Bars all along 17th avenue had lineups at 4:30am in anticipation of 5am opening for the game.  In -20C weather.

Sweden was blatantly outcoached, plain and simple.

McDonald's Coffee? Turn in your passport sir!

Seriously though it was a well played game for Canada, would have rather seen them beat the Swedes with all their big guns but I'm not sure it would have made a difference.  Says something about Canadian depth when you can lose guys like Stamkos and Tavares and still put on a dominating tournament....and put together about 3 more teams that would have been at least competitive.

I was going for the Don Cherry look. Alas I was unable to procure a chesterfield to create the jacket from, so the regular jacket had to do.

Oh well time for all day nap here!

Grats Canada. I was pulling for Sweden myself, but this squad was in Beast Mode all damned tournament. The Swedes punched above their weight class and lost. Feel bad for Hank but a sIlver medal is nothing to sneeze at. I'm just shocked still at how the US shat the bed.

As a Rangers fan i'm happy with so many players sent we only left with one significant injury - the Hobbit will be gone for two weeks. Still better than the Isles made out....

Hope to see you all in four years in South Korea!

I suppose that's gonna happen more than once when hockey is the destination sport of your top athletes instead of #4 in the pecking order.

Absolutely dominant tournament by the Canadians. Maybe one of the most dominant international tournaments by them ever. They were the best team by a mile.

Change the title of your chart to "Athlete-Medals."

Athletes per medal would sum all the medals won, divided by the total number of athletes sent to the games.

Y'know, Canada, if you keep beating the U.S. in Olympic hockey, we're never gonna give you back the Cup. :P

In all seriousness, though, congrats on back-to-back gold medals. You earned them. :-)

Yes, in much the same way you can give out 32 medals for cross country skiing.

Let Canada enjoy the hockey thing. 99% of America doesn't care about it.

What else do they have? Rush, and a crackhead mayor that amuses us all. That's it.

I got up at 6am to watch the game. I should mention that I'm in Huatulco, Mexico. There is nothing more surreal than watching hockey in Spanish and hearing the Pacific Ocean in the back ground.

Yes the commentators yelled "gggggggoooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllll" when Canada scored.

The flight was also delayed on Friday, so we could watch the end of the semifinal game.

Got up at 530am to watch the game.  On the heels of a Richard Thompson concert the evening previous.  No worries!  What a game by Team Canada.  Holy cow, what a way to go out if the NHL participation is over.

Love me some Jonathan Toews.

First goal of the Gold Medal game in Vancouver at the 12:50 mark of the first.
First goal of the Gold Medal game in Sochi at the 12:55 mark of the first.

Knew it was over then and there.

I won't say much in 2 days!

Seriously, guys: Could you just stop being insecure little pricks for once and just let us have our day? The whole country is drunk and feeling proud of itself and instead of acknowledging our pride all you want to do is belittle, marginalize and trivialize our success. I'm sick of this constant attitude from you Americans that if you're not the best at it, then it's not important or it's not worth achieving.

This means a lot to us and we want to cheer and celebrate and drink over it for the day. Tomorrow we'll move onto other things. The most we expect from you is to stop giving us the upturned nose and the sneer of cold contempt. Cuz it's not like we do this all the time.

Only when we win at hockey.
