Should be better than the last few cards.  Ronda's fights are always interesting, and I'm pretty excited for the MacDonald-Maia fight.  Plus the co-main will likely be a beatdown of biblical proportions.

Logged on to Fight Pass waiting for the prelims.  Any guesses on how long it will be before early prelims return to Facebook after most of the Fight Pass members cancel as soon as the free trial is over next week?

Yeah, that makes me laugh, too. Rousey is as one-dimensional as it gets

The skill level of the UFC women's division (in Rousey's weight class) is still low enough that a very narrowly focused fighter can still dominate. As long as that focus is in an effective martial art. It will be a very long time before any well rounded fighter can overcome a judo virtuoso like Rousey. That time will likely exceed her natural career.

In the women's division we are seeing an echo of the earliest style vs style days of the UFC. Proving once again that not all arts are equal. Piss and moan all you want about submission grappling not being as exciting as a Hollywood worthy KO but broken limbs end fights even more decisively.

You are right.  In fact, you know who would have the best chance of beating Rousey right now?  Edith Bosch, but as far as I know she has no interest in mma

Supposedly Cyborg is now going to cut weight and wants to fight her at the end of the year. If that happens, I think Ronda is in deep crap

If wrestling beats Judo (as a wrestler, I say yes) tonight will show that Rousey can be beat. I like Rousey, but I hope she loses. A great wrestler dominates... period (he says, typing sorely). I will LMMFAO if we get a lay and pray win.

Cyborg is extremely sloppy and doesn't have one punch KO power. Also she's probably going to be weaker than Rousey at 135 because she'll need to be off the juice. I expect Rousey to finish her pretty quickly as well.

Eh, who cares.  If you're a one-trick pony and it works that well, why would you ever deviate from that trick.  It's kinda like if Lebron James could shoot a three every time and make it, they'd give him the ball every possession and let him fire it up.

If what she's doing is getting her wins, and making her money, keep on doin it.

I think one complication here is that with men and women the state of the respective sports is different. There are a lot more men who wrestle than practice judo, but that doesn't seem to be the case with women. (For example, judo was a women's Olympic sport in 1992, whereas wrestling wasn't added until 2004.)

So while we usually assume that a male top level wrestler is a better athlete than a top male judoka, with women it's probably the opposite.

Fair assessment. I was wrestling in 4th grade. Not sure the same holds now for women.

I thought "Fun Size" was a pretty cool nickname, until I realized that's also a really good way of insulting the size of a penis (fun size butterfinger). Now it's just funny.
