Jericho could actually work as a standalone movie.

The show had promise, unfortunately it followed the same path as Dollhoyse and SG:U - cool idea, a shaky start but with some promising episodes, a viewing audience too impatient to wait for it to develop, getting a second season by the skin of its teeth, using that season to fix the problems from before and get really farking good, then getting canceled right when it was starting to realize its full potential.

Network execs can be real d-bags.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. According to TFA it's supposed to be about John and Aeryn's kid, but a big part of the show was the character interactions, the most entertaining of which was usually between John and D'Argo and John and Scorpy/Harvey. I'm just not sure they'll be able to capture lightning in a bottle again. Don't get me wrong, I loved Farscape, but I don't know that this will work, especially if it ends up on syfylis network.

TFA also mentions that they hide John's kid on Earth, which is kinda impossible because a major part of PK Wars was John losing all his wormhole knowledge, making a journey to and from Earth kinda impossible.

I think the main problem was scheduling (again), but what you said is true too. In a movie, the writers don't need to hold anything back like they have to on television in order to sustain the premise. They can just go nuts right away, without a bunch of loitering in an empty field all episode episodes.

Although the show didn't end terribly well, it's best they leave Farscape alone.  It's been long enough that they have two choices: a) have it basically be Farscape in name only, with only cameos from some of the original characters, or b) bring back the original characters.  Unfortunately, I don't think Browder and Black have aged terribly well.

Guess you didn't read TFA. The proposed script the guy is working on revolves around John and Aeryn's son almost 20 years after the events of PKW. I'm sure they'd have a cameo here and there, they'd be stupid not to, but it seems to specifically be about different characters.

Fartscape was horrid and unwatchable. Before Sy-Fy made horrible TV movies, they were Sci-Fi..and they made horrible TV shows.

/At least they gave us 3 more seasons of MST3K

I don't disagree with this. It felt like I was watching an adult-oriented version of Fraggle Rock.

Space: Above & Beyond was a favorite of mine, but it has not aged terribly well. I bought the DVD set some time back and rewatched the whole series and I remember it being a lot better than it was. I think a large part of that was that they were a bit before their time, though. They didn't have the SFX (or budget) to back up what they wanted to do, and the long involved, multifaceted story arcs wasn't something commonly done at the time and, in retrospect, they struggled with pacing the story.

I'd love to see a new S:A&B, but I think we already got it in a way with Ron Moore's BSG.

Jericho had crappy writing.  CRAPPY.

Jericho had an awesome idea, but was too set on resolving the problem of the week with guns, or--and I still can't get over this--actual car chases, to not be anything more than a post-apoc Magnum PI.  The "drama" was as hackneyed as any network show crap.  And that was too bad.  I really wanted it to work.

/Also, Skeet was supposed to be an awesome pilot.  There was an airport nearby.  Do these two things go together?   (okay, okay, the EMP made all those shiny planes unusable, but no one in the area had an old cropduster?)
//Black Jauer still made it worth watching, tho

the wife is hooked on Being Human on SyFy.  so I have seen lots of it by proxy.

It is often not great, but...  the show ain't bad.  Hell, it rivals Dexter sometimes.  And it is generally better than Sleepy Hollow (my newest favorite but honestly terrible show, altho I might have a man-crush on Ichabod).  I usually compare it however to Buffy - another show that, while I love it, is often (hell more than often) terrible.  What I mean by that is that even when it isn't great, it's watchable.

/Loved Dexter, but it is my go-to show for "feels like it should be good even when it is terrible".  And it was honestly often terrible.

Also, that end of the wormhole was closed.  IIRC, scorpius knew where it was and it was 60 years away at their best speeds.

IF your post were not true or they wrote around it.(ie did a bad job of removal)

Possibly, John could have used wormholes to get closer and then travel normally.
However, The kid could have inherited the knowledge as he was conceived before John lost the knowledge.

Still, not excited.  Earth only worked in the series as a temporary thing, felt alien because John had been gone so long and we were acclimated to the larger universe.  To base a whole movie on earth, or a good chunk of it, takes away from what Farscape was about.  Sounds like a cheap cop-out, ala Sheild/Terminator TV shows taking place in the real world and looking like a much more mundane/cheesy version of the movies.  Low production values taking much of the magic out of it.

In other words, it's a thinly veiled cover for doing it on teh cheap.  IMO, if you cannot do it right, don't do it.

The first couple seasons of that got me through the withdraw. There was enough content and characters to support the series but I agree with the above comments that it was easily 5 years too early. Had it come out when shows like DS9 and Voyager were being all 'arc-y' then it would have been more successful. You can only do so much with TNG level special effects.

At least they did space flight decently.

Firefly had a movie already.  But it sucked.  It destroyed all the mystery behind the Reavers and replaced it with a Twilight-Zone-like "ironic punishment of man's hubris" story, with a planet totally surrounded by Reavers that nobody noticed or thought to be related to their origin until it was necessary to provide needless exposition.  And then it destroyed River's story by just turning her into another spin-kick dispenser.  It's almost as if Joss Whedon had the script ghost-written by someone who had never seen the series.

Farscape is one of those shows that I started watching on Netflix when all the seasons were already available. I was pretty happy with it for the first few seasons, then kept watching it out of a sense of obligation. Then at some point I stopped watching it because I lost interest.

I think I went back and watched it all again from beginning to end, but honestly, I'm not sure I made it to the last episodes.

Firefly was much more fun, but there were only two seasons. Who knows how schlocky it would have gotten if they'd dragged it out to six or seven.

I thought the version from the series was interesting.  But she was just reduced to "say the magic word and she does choreographed stunts and poses for the trailer".

Eh, she wasn't that ridiculous in the show. It was somewhat believable that the government would take a gifted person and mess with their brain to see how far they could go. Even the bit when she shoots those guys on Niska's satellite were believable results of tampering with the brain. Possible psychic ability, and all the crazed side effects you saw with her on the show were believable as well. The movie on the other hand made River ridiculous. She went from amazing brain with a side order of crazy to super ninja girl able to take down rooms full of other insane critters with barely a scratch.
