Cocaine IS used medically now, mostly as an anesthetic for surgery. Amphetamines are also used medically, I don't know about "Crystal Meth" being used medically.

I believe in crystal meth, because I believe in me!

In eye surgery no less for cocaine. I couldn't imagine someone rooting around in my eye while I was tweeked.

For whatever reason, it is both safer and more effective in ocular surgery than any of the synthetic substitutes.

Well, let's see: pot is schedule 1, meth is schedule 2, and coke is schedule 2. Two of these being used in a medical setting is surprising ... why?

Frankly, I would rather see opioid panikillers be the first experiment in legalized "hard" drugs. Stimulants have high risks, and few medical applications.

Here is a wild idea. Legalize all drugs that way you can regulate the shiat out of them, and administer the shiat out of them in an environment that has the shiat controlled out of it.

You work them down and get them clean.

/We're sailing into a shiat typhoon Randy, we'd better haul in the jib before it gets covered in shiat

A doctor studying Ether abuse among college students noticed one abuser was impervious to the pain sustained from a leg injury while on the drug. This directly led to the development of anesthesia and major surgical operations.

That was the opinion of the Founding Fathers. You took personal responsibility for yourself and if you wanted to be a drunk, live with the consequences; it was none of the government's business.

This country needs to return to it's original values.

To be clear: crystal meth is just the pure form of methamphetamine. Chemically speaking, it's the freebase form.

Street speaking, you'll hear loads of fark like "I don't do crystal I only do freebase." Professionally speaking, the street speaking people are idiots who probably got their degrees in chemistry from the Hollywood Upstairs College of Chemisrty.

Just legalize them all. Treatment and prevention is cited as the most cost effective and healthiest route to take. Drugs are society's boogeyman, and their ban has never been about public health.

Once again, take responsibility for your actions. I knew I would never be a good parent, hence I never had children. It would not have been fair to them, their mother or, most importantly, me.
I wish more people felt that way.

Chemically speaking, it's not freebase - freebase meth is liquid at room temp, FYI - and 'pure' isn't the same as 'freebase'. Freebase kicks harder because it gets metabolized quicker, pure kicks harder because, obviously, it's pure.

Street speaking, I'm an eternally sober chemistry undergrad and even I know this shiat. What's your excuse?

For a very limited subset of patients/techniques, mind you.  Also, it's probably more common in ENT than ophthalmology.

It's not freebase, it's the hydrochloride salt. Freebase meth is an oily liquid at room temperature.

Like we didn't know this was coming.  The dope fiends were lying when they said they wanted to legalize pot "just for medical purposes", they were lying when they said they only want to legalize pot, they were lying when they said the only want to legalize pot for adults and they will keep lying until they can smoke, shoot, or snort any drug, no matter how poisonous, into their diseased brains.

It was. He has a short treatment of the history in his book High Price (which I recommend), and it's enough to indicate he's thoroughly conversant. A miniseries on the origins of US drug policy was one of the last things The History Channel produced before it went full potato, and I found it enlightening.

The number of addicts is far lower and less expensive to society than the number of convicts the ILLEGAL, racist, money mongering "law" has created.

I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for truth and justice, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my potheads go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will stone you. Not everybody must get stoned, but you really need it.

Friend of mine had an acquaintance who was undergrad and worked in the Chemistry department at the local Uni. One of the prof's was making up a batch of pig stimulants for research, which was mostly, or possibly all, methamphetamine or slightly altered. Prof gives the acquaintance a little 'sample' to play with, which my friend got a sample of as well. Friend takes a standard size bump, and was up for 3 days straight. Cleanest he'd ever had, and likely would. All down hill after that stuff...

Wow OB's

In the late 70's/early 80's I used too know a very "large" woman who would get these as a prescription then sell them.

Orange Sunshine.

Used to cut them in half and that would be enough to keep me wired for 36-48 hours.
I have no idea how anyone thought these could be used as a daily doseage.
