Apparently when they hired the guy in the article. Geez, arrest a kid for throwing a snowball? I would have just laughed and threw a snowball back at him.

So lets just arbitrarily accuse a young boy and ruin his life.

A couple credible witnesses pointed the kid out. It wasn't arbitrary. It was, however, chickenshiat.

A few years ago, there was a guy locally that decided to swipe a fistful of candy bars (Snickers, Mars Bars etc) from a local (CVS) drug store, and ran out the door.

It just so happens that there was a cop parked out front that was alerted by the cashier, and the cop chased this 19 year old kid about 50 yards through light brush before the kid was in cuffs.

The cop, wearing a short sleeved shirt, got a few scratches during the chase.

The kid, was found guilty of 14 assaults upon a police officer, and was sentenced to 1-1/3 to 3 years of prison for his first offense.

The cop got 6 months of paid sick leave.

Here's what will happen:

It will go to juvenile court.
The DA will try to make a case that it was felony battery (i.e. with malicious intent).
The kid's defense attorney will explain all the reasons it wasn't, lay out all the mitigating circumstances (age, lack of previous criminal activities, etc.).
The cop will testify in his uniform, trying to pretend that it was some kind of affront to his policemanny dignity and that he somehow feared for his safety.
The kid's friends and family will testify as to the kid's spotless reputation and so forth.
The judge, after trying not to laugh at the DA's spurious efforts will heroically refrain from calling the cop a pussy and a disgrace to his badge, and dismiss the case.

HOWEVER,

The kid will have a felony arrest on his record till the end of days, and hopefully it will not destroy his future efforts to get into college, since a felony arrest, regardless of whether it resulted in a conviction, can keep one from obtaining student loans, and can bar one from entry to some colleges. Hopefully not, but this is why these b/s arrests need to be squashed, along with the idiot cops who make them and their pantywaist supporters who encourage them on the grounds that "kids need to learn actions have consequences." They do. But this is not the way they should learn, nor should a felony record be the "consequence" one should get at age 14.

Your #1 personality type is a prerequisite for Chicago PD. The #2 types work for the city in other capacities.

To be overly generous to the pussy cop, there's a significant farking difference between a "snowball" and a "chunk of ice" and TFA is using them interchangeably. There are plenty of circumstances where it is not at all child's-play-to-be-laughed-off when a teenager throws a "snowball" that's basically a temporary rock. But it sounds like the cop in TFA is just a crybaby having a tantrum.

I kissed a lot of ass to get, and keep this job, now it's your turn.
Inconsequential cog in the grand fund raising effort though I may be, I am still better than everyone I meet.

You're a doctor? I could have done that too except I didn't feel like it, and my job is more important than yours.

But they put their lives on the line EVERY DAY.
Last year, roughly 192 cops died NATION WIDE, while on duty.
Out of that 192, less than 100 died while doing actual police work.

Fully most of them died while driving like a bored batshiat crazy loon driving a rental.
Not during pursuits, or answering calls, but from believing that being the laws of the land don't apply to them, the laws of physics don't apply to them either.

Seriously the kid should have been warned by the cop and maybe taken to his parents or a letter mailed to them, there was and is no good reason to arrest the kid for any charge, all this is going to do is breed more hate of cops and feelings that they are out of control brutes.

2014-02-22 03:29:36 AM
I read the article, determined that the kid's mom was the only source and instantly knew the story is bullsh*t.

Once you guys learn how to do that, and stop believing kids over school administrators and cops, then maybe we can get our school system back on track.

Even if it is a halfbrick, a felony? Really? Spray the kid and charge him with misdemeanor something.

I'm not saying he should've been charged with a felony. I'm saying generally that a teenager can do real damage with a full-on ice ball. I wouldn't have a problem with treating that the same as throwing a rock.

Kids normally throw snowballs; I would presume snow rather than ice until there's actual evidence (not cop testimony) to the contrary. And in any situation, it's pretty farking likely that a Chicago cop is just being a dick. But I can't help but notice that TFA is confused about the most crucial bit of info in the story and the author seems unaware of it.

Since we got cameras that record the truth and not the fiction they put in their reports.

I gotta wonder if it's University Of Chicago cops who arrested him. If it were Austin, Roseland, Englewood cops, he'd have been shot on the spot. University cops and Hyde Park cops don't have anything better to do than something like this and occupying Dunkin' Donuts.

Rocks are just ice made of not water.

Ice is also an 8 on the Moh's scale. I don't know the rockwell scale, but Moh's only goes up to 10 and tempered steel is 5.5

I absolutely believe without a doubt the snowball hit the cop's car, not that charging a child with  felony for being hit in the arm with a snowball isn't farking retarded in itself. Next step for this cop will be to file for disability for his injuries which is a scam running rampant in police departments, costing local taxpayer billions.

I think this was Austin, but yeah, you're right, I'm ASTOUNDED that the kid wasnt blown away and a broken 9 mm found next to his body, with the d-bag cop claiming the kid pointed at him.

CPD has about a 1:1 ratio of OK cop/scumbag bully, and THAT'S being generous.
