Can someone explain to me why WGN is featured so prominently on my cable lineup? I'm over two thousand miles from Chicago.

There are two streams, WGN (local) and WGN America (national). Programming does differ, and if I understand correctly, the cable version will be putting more national programming to replace some of the local slots.

Sorta like the old Ted Turner model where WTBS was on every basic cable system when cable started out.

It was owned by Turner, so it remains an asset of Time Warner.

It's funny they had white boards. Expect Stewart or Colbert to imitate on Monday.

I watch these people every morning as I get ready for work so I saw this today. They are consistently hilarious. I've also seen many things that make me believe Larry reads FARK.

I wasn't getting any audio in the video.  Anyone else?

If only there was some sort of console that had enough I/0 to feed the pertinent audio through to the broadcast line that was analog and patched in on a splitter snake.  These are called "failsafes".

I can't believe there is a scenario that Glenn Beck is already prepared for.  I think he would continue on and no one would notice the audio went away.

I gotta say, it's fun to watch when newscasters have unexpected things like this and actually have fun with it instead of sitting flustered.

I don't think Turner ever owned WGN, you're thinking of TBS/TNT.

Robin should have started stripping.

Is that a camera lens on the side of the whiteboard?
Is that an iPad?

I would have preferred Erin McElroy or Ana Belaval personally...

Why wouldn't you expect the World's Greatest Newspaper to be flowing through electromagnetic waves in metal cables and showing up as moving pictures on your wall?

They'd at least need an ADC and remuxing system in addition to what you suggest -- the broadcast line isn't analog these days, and doesn't have a distinct audio channel.

True, but that's like a one box kit, afaict.

I admit I'm old school and like to keep audio chains in the analogue domain all the way up until it hits the DAW converters, but then again, I just hate paging menus and fader banks.

They should have called for an intern.
