So one movie bombs, despite being marketed up our ass for nearly a year and their solution is to bring out another version with a rating that allows a smaller audience? Jesus Studio Suits, what is in that coke?

Huh, apparently the original Anchorman was PG-13, I could have sworn it was an R movie.

I haven't seen 2 yet, I'll probably wait for it to come out on blu-ray.  The original was funny, but I can wait.

Theatrical release was PG-13. There's an Unrated DVD that you're probably thinking of. The only big difference was after "Go fark yourself San Diego" he starts screaming at the angry mob "Don't you know I would never say the word fark? I would never farking ever farking say that! Ever."

As for this, I didn't have a desire to see the PG-13 one in theaters. And I don't for this either. Maybe if it had been R from the get-go, but this is just a lame attempt at a cash grab.

I can't wait for the reboots: The Amazing Anchorman & The Amazing Anchorman part 2

All my friends talked the first Anchorman up so much that it was a disappointment. I also saw it during peak Ferrel.

It was funny, but not the mind-breakingly hilarious movie I was told it was. I'll the second eventually, just to try and spot Atlanta locations.

Hmm, I know that they didn't make as much money as they hoped, but I'm pretty sure that they made like 3 or 4x the production budget back on just the first theatrical release.

I guess it's a bomb because someone was expecting this would make a half billion dollars or something? I have no idea why anyone would have that expectation other than the retardedly over-hyped media campaign. After all, the first Anchorman didn't do so well at the box office, but it's turned out to be an imminently quotable cult classic.

Saw anchorman 2 with my wife and brother over Christmas. We all laughed like fools and quoted it for weeks afterwards. Will be going to see the R version too./the laughing cutoff scene was one of the most brilliant things I've seen//I'M BLIND///does fark still go retarded when you post from a phone? Willing to bet yes

Does this mean we're going to be inundated with Anchorman 2 ads again?

800 new jokes?

Maybe 800 more jokes. But it'll be the same old tired rehashed jokes.

It's basically a one or two week re-release before the Blu-Ray comes out. Not that big of a deal.

Hopefully the blu-ray release is the full version that they're about to release in the theaters.  I hate it when they make two versions of a movie, just start with the full on 'everything included' version, don't foist some edited junk on us first.

It took me forever to finally see Watchmen because the version they'd show on HBO, etc, was the shorter theatrical version instead of the full director's cut.  They should have just released the full version as the original movie.

As long as there is a leatherbound book version of the Blu-Ray, I'll be satisfied.

Sweet Jebus please make it stop.

Per the article there are 763 "new" jokes.  Taking the length at 120 minutes, that is over 6 jokes a minute, so less than 10 seconds per joke.  That's a lot.  Were there any jokes in the original release?

so the money I paid wasted to see it the first time.....I didn't get to see the real movie??

fark THIS MOVIE

I liked the movie but it wasn't as quotable as the first one. Only thing the movie was really missing was a Ben Stiller cameo.

/Liam Neeson made up for it

Same thing happened to me with the Hangover. Everyone treated it like the Second Coming. When I watched it, I thought it was OK, not the redefining of humor people claimed it was.

I don't know if it was the overhype that killed the movie for me or my dislike of plots driven by the Load of a character.

You keep using that word.
Jokes are supposed to be funny. Will ferrel isn't, never was and never will be funny.

Anchorman 2 was not very funny, in my opinion.

they made a sequel to anchorman?

I'm a big fan of movie quotes, and so are my friends.

But I've never heard or used an Anchorman movie quote.

Will Ferrel sucks and his movies are awful.

Loved both movies, but since this version will likely be on the blu-ray I'll just wait for that

Will Ferrel is an acquired taste. I didn't think he was funny in SNL at all... But Step Brothers is awesome, I thought he was funny in Austin Powers, and he's got some dramatic chops as well. I get his sense of comedy now... I can definitely appreciate his humor now more than I used to...

This could have been a much better movie, if it hadn't been forced to shoehorn references in from the original.  There were some hilarious scenes, which never really had the chance to fully develop. Comedy evolves like everything else, and 2004 humor definitely feels dated.

RockofAges: See, at one point, it was "hipster cool" to enjoy Anchorman. It was a "dark horse comedy". Guys like FastFXR here would have been slobbering the knob at the time had they, and their movie intelligentsia, been trolling the B-movie boards.

Then, Anchorman really took off. It really escalated quickly. Brick killed a guy. Ron Burgundy became a pop cultural figure.

Then, like anything else that becomes popular after a period of relative obscurity, the hipsters rise against, and treat the property like the return of Limp Bizkit. Which nobody ever listened to back in the day.

Personally, I love crude absurdist humour, so Anchorman and its iterations will always amuse me.

But it cant be good if YOU like it.

2014-02-22 06:28:14 PM
Anchorman 2 was the worst movie I've seen in a year. I wish I could say it was funny but it was same jokes as the first one.

If they released more movies as R-rated comedies, they'd make more money off of them.

Will Ferrel is not funny, but Will Ferrell is hilarious.
