Was it just as frigid?

The ice cover is reducing evaporation, but that could be a good thing for the Great Lakes, which experienced record low water levels last year.

The great thing about the rising water levels: it will hopefully prevent me from having to explain to anyone else that Obama is not actually shipping the water to China.

I, for one, welcome our new, ice encrusted overlakes.

That's what you get for trying to stop global warming and the explosion of broads wearing bikinis year round.  Farking assholes and your bikini hate.

Well the water levels are lower than when Ohbummer took office. So what has he been doing with the water if he *hasn't* been shipping it to China, shipping it to Mexico?

We're supposed to see another polar vortex next week, any NASA predictions (or any predictions) on what will happen to that 80%?

Okay, is there another reference to that phrase that is not related to the movie Frozen?
I have this image in my mind of some live action film where the guy suddenly drapes his coat over a shivering girl. She looks at him in surprise and asks something like "don't you need it?", he turns away saying something along the lines of "nah, the cold never bothered me anyway". Which is apparently some snide comment about the relationship between the two of them because she is sitting there glaring daggers at his back.

Google is not helping, Am I just going crazy?

Not discounting the theory. Any current reference is going to be to Frozen though. Come to think of it, all future references probably will be too.

It is cold as shiat in my corner of the world, so this disproves any climate change, so pass the trickle down grey poupon, H2 to H2.

Trolled less softly.

I was also amused that a mere 3 days of 40 degree temps here in Cleveland and the lake almost completely melts.

Though, with the return of the frigidness next week, it'll freeze back over again.

Obscure? They were selling the dolls months before the movie even came out! This new trend is very annoying. I've never gotten sick of a movie before it came out until that movie with the redhead princess.

Look, I agree that humans are affecting the climate, and that there's definitely good reasons for switching to renewable and more efficient power sources and technologies, but that's not necessarily "better" from any individual's standpoint.
I know the phrase seemed really clever in that one comic, but it's also pretty much the mantra of every fundamentalist Christian demanding their social mores be the law, every radical terrorist, every totalitarian movement, and every Godwin-inducing party of the past.
It's a creepily self-righteous phrase, and it blithely sweeps aside the sacrifices that will be demanded of the common people.

No it isn't. It's actually pretty straightforward. I honestly don't know why you're afraid of it.

It's a creepily self-righteous phrase, and it blithely sweeps aside the sacrifices that will be demanded of the common people.

Actually, it kind of puts all the ignorant deniers in their place. Are you sure you're on the right side here?

Yes, but it's still blowing smoke up people's asses, and it's not even true. There's no utopia waiting on the other end, the goal is to prevent things from getting worse. That does not equate to better.

The info's out there. Tenfold. You're choosing to ignore it and put some ridiculous anti-progressive spin on it.

Maybe you should be looking at what you're doing, and that the sole person here that would agree with you is regularly ridiculed in climate change threads.

whidbey: The info's out there. Tenfold.

Lot's of info on climate change and how to mitigate it. Fine, we'll mitigate it. You said it would be better, you must have lots of ideas on how it will be better, share them.

Here, I'll start. I think things would be better if we ended the War on Drugs because then addicts could seek treatment with less fear, and less-harmful drugs that are only punished due to social acceptance would be available for responsible use. We'd have a lot less need for prisons, so a lot less tax money needed to fund them and therefore other priorities could be focused on. People will be free to make their own choices, and folks kicking back at home on the patio with friends and smoking a bowl would be a fun evening. I think things would be better if the government got out of the marriage business except to certify legal rights between consenting adults without restriction, because then people would have the freedom to explore and choose the type of relationships they want.
There's two.
The goal with dealing with climate change is to mitigate the effects. Explain how this makes a better world, rather than one that just doesn't have additional challenges to the ones we have today.

Are you really that unimaginative, just bored, or really that ignorant of how getting off fossil fuels and reducing CO2 emissions might improve society?

Hint: stop thinking of it as a conspiracy. I know that's a big step.
