And it was not at all bad for market prices.

/still not at all sure that fools that collect "cars" that are not driven should be left in charge of these toys

I'm still curious how they plan on retrieving these cars... You can't exactly drive up to the edge with a crane. Hell, from the sound of the cave system underneath the museum, I'd say that the entire place isn't safe at this point, now that part of it's gone... Maybe they're tunneling through from one of the caves underneath, and will just drive the cars straight out?

The problem is where to anchor that? All the pictures make it look like there is a gigantic overhang, like there is 10-20 feet of space with nothing below it. I wonder if there's a farker that's been there, or someone who has better pics of it? I'd be scared to put anything heavy enough to haul those cars out of that pit on top of that big bunch of empty...

Of course, I'm not a retrieval specialist.

You go down there with a wrench and you take the damn things apart.  Then, you move the pieces to somewhere else and put them all back together.

Jesus, would you want to be slipping and sliding around on a debris field, jacking up and disassembling cars, and hoping they didn't fall on you? I would bet that an insurance company would in no way out up a policy to cover a retrieval plan like that. Trying to drive a crane to the lip would be safer...

Yup...  Plus there's also the problem of rigging up each vehicle before hoisting it into the air.

Shaped explosives to blast the cars in the air, then snatch them on the fly in a net being swung through the air by a large crane

Now that it's been proposed, it's an insta-myth that needs attention.

If only a crane had some component which allowed it to reach horizontally over a work area.
