"Matt Taibbi called out David Gregory on Thursday..."

That's good.

"...while lamenting the media's treatment of Glenn Greenwald."

That's bad.

I want a frogurt.

Matt Taibbi is a national treasure. That is all.

I like Taibbi's work alot.  Especially his pieces on John McCain.  But it doesn't mean I'm required to agree with him on everything.  And I think he's way off on Greenwald.  As a general commentary on how the press  has handled Snowden, he might have a point.  But as far as Greenwald's concerned?  Greenwald's gone way beyond good journalism and entered the realm of PR and fan fanaticism.

The only reason that I've subscribed to RS is because of Taibbi.  Might as well let it lapse now.

Wow... can you actually get that with your severance package?

I'd exchange some of my severance to punch David Gregory in the balls.

I'll miss reading Matt Taibbi's Rolling Stone columns, but I plan on checking out whatever he does with First Look media.

Well, the arguably best paper in Britain disagrees. Also, "fan fanaticism" is redundant.

Hell I don't know, why would you ask me that do think I know what I'm doing? I got an ear full of phone, fingers on a keyboard, and a co-worker staring at because they want me to fix their mess cause they still haven't learned how to use the new system.

A Rolling Stone "journalist" calling out David Gregory, that's pretty rich. Go back out behind your trailer and smoke some more weed, hippie.

He's switching jobs and needs to create a lot of buzz about himself. Since his dad works for NBC, his comments will do exactly what he intended.

2014-02-21 10:06:49 AM
For those who don't like reading articles, here's his position:

"...The job is we're supposed to report the truth. If whistle blowers come forward, we're supposed to take the risk along with those whistleblowers and society long ago decided we should have protections when we do this."
"Modern journalists just don't recognize how serious it is"

Taibbi's reporting has been excellent, but I also think his view of Greenwald is wrong and a bit naive. Snowden and Greenwald are like arsonists who burn down buildings to highlight fire safety.

Revealing foreign intelligence operations has no relevance to domestic surveillance. It just hurts U.S. intelligence abroad and makes it less likely people will work with us. How does that help any U.S. citizen at all? It doesn't and just supports my view that Greenwald and Snowden just want to spite the U.S. The whole fleeing to the bastions of freedom that are China and Russia, certainly doesn't help either.

Whoa...Back the f*ck up, Matt Taibbi is a hippie? Is that what you are implying? He's the best financial reporter in the country, presently. And he's got brass balls.

And he hasn't spoken to his father NBC reporter Mike Taibbi in nearly a decade.

Remember the time when that liberal tool threw a cream pie spiked with horse semen into the face of a New York Times bureau chief?  Good stuff.

Yes a hate crime against humanity.

Hunter S Thompson, Tom Wolfe ("The Right Stufff" first appeared in RS) Gay Talese, Mikal Gilmore, Anthony DeCurtis and Cameron Crowe aren't journalists?

PJ O'Rourke was at his peak when he was at RS.

Pentaxian: PJ O'Rourke was at his peak when he was at RS.

Yes, that brief period where he was actually funny.

In the lead-up to the election in 1992, Jann Wenner, O'Rourke, William Geiger and HST had lunch with Clinton at Doe's in Little Rock.  They each wrote a piece about it, and of the four, HST's was dead-on: he focused on the fact that Clinton kept stealing his french fries.

Color me shocked that the impartial TV journalist who said, "The Republicans in congress want... while the liberals say..."

So David Gregory thinks there are two political parties, Republican and Liberals.

Hey Dave, your slip is showing.

markfara: Matt Taibbi is a national treasure. That is all.

Yep. We need more like him. He's smart, insightful, and writes great in-depth reports on those ugly things we need to know about. So he's pretty much unlike 99% of those Kardashian-worshiping "journalists" out there.

Matt Taibbi is a journalist.

David Gregory is a ball-licking stenographer.

/there is a difference

Taibbi is the best investigative reporter in recent times. I've subscribed to Rolling Stone for 30 years. Every article has been riveting and his analogies, inimitable.  RS screwed up big time by losing this incredibly gifted writer
