(Register Star)   You've been the bass player for one of the greatest bands ever, so why not follow it up by spending a bit of time whipping up a mean braised chicken as a line cook at a hospital in upstate New York?   (registerstar.com) divider line 74

Well, good on him, but who?

2014-02-21 10:43:12 AM
Huh, they even got the base player for U2 to write it.

2014-02-21 10:54:38 AM
Don't you mean one of the greatest cover bands ever?

Cause GNR ain't really been GNR since the late 80s.

/not ragging on any of the guys working with them now or before
//only Axl Rose

2014-02-21 10:57:42 AM
The other line cook was out sick so he came in as a replacement.

That's not the band at all in question here.

I'm hoping subby was talking about the Replacements.

Interesting what qualifies for rock legend these days... bass players of higher caliber frown on your shenanigans; however, they applaud your good work.

RockNStroll: I'm hoping subby was talking about the Replacements.

Why, I'd say subby used that kind of ambiguity for the very possibility of having a GNR/Replacements back-and-forth in this thread.

Okay, everybody, quit showing your faces of shock.

Good on you, Tommy.

//Now how bout a limited Mats Tour, hmm?

They did that already minus Chris Mars

Couldn't see the article due to the crappy web site, but I assume they're talking about Chris Squire, as John Entwistle is dead.

I was hoping for a Walken Cooks A Chicken-style video.

I just checked the schedule, seems I'm due to be the bassist for GNR  March 17 to September 24 2017.  Wasn't it Andy Warhol who said everyone will play for GNR for 15 minutes before the quit/ get fired.

Too be fair, the HL says "best bands ever" not "best basist ever," so Lee is a viable candidate in the minds of many. Now, if it had said "best bassist ever" then whoever mentioned Victor Wooten first should have hit the lights on the way out.

Festival dates only. I said a 'limited Mats tour'. Sunburned and windburned (i.e.: RiotFest, Denver) is not my idea of a good time.

//Chris is painting now, he's moved on with his life, and he wishes the rest of the world would too.

So that's all that came to then? Pity that -- I caught some little bits that they were back at work last year but wasn't in a position where I could follow closely what they were up to. Not much then. And I didn't know anything about his GnR gig -- I'll just block that out and pretend I didn't hear it.

Note to all the "I though it was [fill in the blank]" -- the headline does say "one of the greatest bands ever..." which is reasonable (though an argument could be made that they misspelled "drunkest"). Doesn't say THE greatest ever, or for that matter, single him out as even "one of" the greatest bass players ever. What, it's Friday and everyone's bored? Okay, dumb question. Carry on then. And in that case, Sid's dead.

No, that's drummers. Bass players are barbacks.

I'm confused because the article doesn't mention the bass player from Rush or Weird Al. Subby needs a Replacement.

Honestly, playing bass for the band now calling itself Guns 'n' Roses isn't better than being a line cook.
