Wake me when Dennis Ritchie, Ken Thompson, and their coworkers get some.

Nah, they'll probably wait until someone releases a rounded stamp first and then 'improve' it and claim a patent.

I'm not an Apple user, but I think this is a great idea. Anything that promotes entrepreneurs and American creativity is a good thing. Hopefully this will serve to inspire others...even if it is coming from the USPS.

The stamp's interface will be dramatically simplified over previous stamps by way of only having a single perforation.

Let me guess. It will cost 3 to 4 times as much comparable stamps and I can only buy compatible envelopes on itunes.

Will the Harvey Milk stamp be self-licking?

I'm curious as to who you would put on stamps, if anyone. I mean, arguably, Paul Bunyan stamps could be subjected to the same criticism. So could "John Q Public" stamps.

Well... Richard Stallman should get a stamp.  The difficulty is that it would be scratch-n-sniff and it would smell really bad.

Worse, they are able to convince others that they are great.  How many idiots in suits actually think that Bill Gates invented and/or promoted the Internet to fame, for instance, when the actual cast of characters that did that are more diverse and mostly university-based, for instance.

Understand that the USPS doesn't put people on stamps to honor them.   They are not a humanitarian organization.   As the article (did you read the article says) they put his mug on the stamps because they think people will buy them.   Especially fun are the people who buy the stamps and then don't mail anything.    Catering to collectors (both serious and recreational) is a big revenue source.

Jane Curtin: Our top story tonight: The Post Office announced today, that in honor of the Bicentennial, it is going to re-issue a stamp commemorating prostitution in the United States. It's a ten-cent stamp, but if you want to lick it, it's a quarter.

Oh, and I understand it ruins a joke headline, but the USPS has put out rounded corner stamps before, in fact, they have some currently available that are completely circular.

Which is why I mentioned Tonga upthread.  They were the first country to issue self-adhesive stamps (in 1963!), and the first of those were circular.

Done in one.  The guy didn't invent a thing, and succeeded only in pushing the limits of how much a person will pay for shininess.  And just as with Gates, a success in business (but with a legacy of good cartoons instead of curing polio).
