This is very sad, Ray Rice has always been a really great guy- he does a lot for charity and the community- he is very well known and well liked in Baltimore.

Beating his fiancee unconscious in public tends to color a guy's reputation.

Very surprising. There's only a handful of players I'd be MORE surprised to see this out of.
Torrey, Flacco, Ngata, maybe Tucker?

Rice just always came off as really having his shiat together.

Police report/summons state he hit her and rendered her unconscious.

He may appear so in public, but if he was comfortable punching his fiancée in the middle of a crowded casino, what do you think he is like in private?

Anyway, at least they won't have to worry about him skipping out before the trial seeing as he is no longer a threat to run.

And the fans knew that going into last year. And then Rice had to hurt his hip for parts of 2 games and missing a third.

// if dumping Ray for Pierce is so easy, they'd have done it Week 12 or earlier

"Cops say he KO'd her"

KO is "knock out", so he 'knock out'ed her? Seriously, who gets paid to write this shiate? It should be "Police say he knocked her out", the farking abbreviation doesn't really fit anywhere.

I'm pretty sure they meant to say that Rice "Keith Olbermanned" her. You know, he rendered her unconscious with his scathing wit and derision.

I shall henceforth refer to you as aintnuttinwithwhichtofark.

But I'd say "out" in that sentence served as an adverb, not a preposition.

If the league suspends him do they still take the cap hit?  I thought there were some changes made after the Micheal Vick dog fighting conviction.

The only cap relief they get is for any games he's suspended or unable to play due to incarceration, retirement, etc.

So not really. That's what the downside is of signing bonuses.

Even so, I think she deserves better treatment than to be dragged across the floor and then left on the ground in the elevator doorway. He showed a stunning lack of concern for her. He didn't seem all that concerned about getting her help even though she was apparently unconscious.

Oh, but we couldn't have a Grand Prix. The money wasn't there for it, they said. Nope, better we dump all the money into a flash-in-the-pan football team that seems to be made largely out of ex-cons...

FTFY.

Seriously - the Grand Prix and the Ravens have nothing to do with one another. The city doesn't pay the team's salaries. You do know that, right?

And I'm not sure how you could call the Ravens flash in the pan. Making the playoffs 5 of the past 6 years. 2 AFC Championship games and a Superb Owl victory in that time.

As for Rice - I'm not sure what happened, but it doesn't look good.
What I don't get though is - why is this the video that gets leaked? What does this video do that a shot of the actual hit wouldn't do better? If someone is leaking it to condemn him in the eyes of the public, what does this video accomplish?

And who leaked it? The police? It's unlikely to have been the casino. The DA? Maybe? But again, if the DA was to leak a video, why not the one where the actual crime takes place?

I'm looking forward to more information coming out, because something isn't adding up for me, yet.

They aren't largely ex-cons. Some of them are cons-to-be.

If your name didn't have "Clutch" in it I'd think you were a troll from Pittsburgh.

Baltimore did have a Gran Prix, and it was awesome, and you know why it's gone? Because the promoters couldn't pay their bills to the city -- the money wasn't there on the racing side, not the city side. The football team has two Super Bowl wins in less than 20 years, and the only ex-cons that have been on the team are, um, nobody? The only Raven I can remember having been convicted of a crime is Jamal Lewis.

Baltimore fans ignore their players faults up to, and including murder so a little pop to knock out his fiancee barely registers for their fans.

Well there are other articles saying a witness knocked her out with a solid punch and that it was a punch not just a slap.

What a douchebag, there is no reason to hit a woman like that at all.

No, there isn't. I was really trying to just say that TFA sucks, presents no real evidence, and is a perfect example of what passes as "journalism" lately, since as far as we could tell from the video, it's just a woman that was drunk and passed out in the elevator. It's just an issue I have with this whole "convicted in the press" thing, not specifically with this case.

As far as this one goes, the other articles seem to provide more details, but the one subby chose sucks(And usually anything referencing TMZ), I just wish people would choose better ones to submit here sometimes.

And yeah, why in the hell would you need to hit anyone hard enough to knock them unconscious for any reason other than self defense, man or woman? There is really no argument that requires you to lay someone out cold like that and then you just stand around like you're mildly concerned because they're blocking the elevator door...

Scrotastic Method: Baltimore did have a Gran Prix, and it was awesome, and you know why it's gone? Because the promoters couldn't pay their bills to the city -- the money wasn't there on the racing side, not the city side.

Apparently those things are farking expensive... They did one in Phoenix in the 90s, and the people who went said it rocked, but it cost FAR more to put on than it brought in, I think a large part of it is the insurance, if it's the kind where they're racing around in town. When you have uber-expensive Formula-1 cars racing amongst office buildings, the liability can get crazy.
