I'm organizing a massive rubber duck race in the Hudson to help raise awareness of the massive eddies of discarded plastics in the ocean.

Has a fraternity done this with blowup dolls yet?

I can be seen in this pic, back when Knoxville's annual rubber duck race as held in the Tennessee river, as it should be. I had VIP tickets to that, and it was a fun day.

Rubber ducky, you're the one... I got a good feeling, I'm putting down $100 on you.

So everyone "buys" ducks, has a drink (or three), watches them race, and a charity benefits from it? Sounds like a good time, I'm in!

The one I went to was a blast. That photo was taken from on the bridge, just before they dumped 40,000 ducks into the river from a dump truck. We drank cocktails on the boat, then went back down the river to wait for the ducks to arrive. The first one across the finish line wins $10k for whoever "bought" it.

There doesn't seem to be an art to winning.

Jesus, I'm sure glad that BBC was here to do the hard hitting investigative journalism to discover this, or I would have never known that when you randomly dump 12,000 identical bath toys into a river, anyone can be the winner.

My town's Lion's Club does it every year. It's just a more elaborate 50/50 raffle really, I don't see it was a subculture of any kind.
