I'd rather leave my poop IN the toilet, but different strokes for subby, I guess... at least they aren't proposing an upper decker.

Still, pooping on the toilet seems exceedingly messy.

In a big station like that the toilet situation is always literally shiatty. Bums and crazy homeless treat them like their base camp and they get disgusting quick, and sometimes you really need a clean toilet to take care of business in peace without getting infected with something. And a public shower facility just could not be offered in a high traffic train station restroom without it getting unimaginably dirty and weird really fast without it being something that was a little expensive.

But if I was going in to Grand Central, had a long commute home after an even longer day, if a little desperate, could see myself paying to drop a deuce and take a shower.

They should have a frequent poopers plan.

Paris has free public toilets everywhere, and they are always clean, as they are self-cleaning. So, why can't New-York manage it ?

Living in Chicago, I am more used to hobos taking shiats while in the L cars. The first time I visited NYC, I saw a hobo drop trou next to a garbage can and take a dump. Was an enlightening visit.

Shouldnt the 3 day pass offer some cost savings?  I am buying in bulk here, give me a discount.

"Heyman, can you spare 8 bucks? I gotta take a shiat."

Or you could go to the Hyatt next door and use their nice bathrooms for free.

/If you aren't dressed like a slob you can walk into any hotel and use their bathrooms. Midtown is full of them.

I like the option to drop off bags in a secure locker. I'd probably sign up if it was more like $5 a day and no annual fee.

I hope you can still piss in the alleys for free.

Showers.

This is good for *dedicated* office workers who frequently overnight it and those who are on the polyphasic sleep cycle.

It looks to be marginally cheaper than a gym membership when in "inactive" mode.

All that needs to happen is for an "Anytime Fitness" franchisee to roll into Manhattan (I see the resistance being just the sheer volume of users and super-high cost of rental space) and destroy these guys.

If you don't mind wading through a half-inch of urine.

So I take it that these people played way too much Roller Coaster Tycoon as a kid?

I get it though.  Too many homeless people means I'm not touching those bathrooms with a 50 foot pole, so you need a way to keep out the bums.  Charging does that.

the price to shiat is too damn high!

It's NYC.

Rent's $4000/month.  Paying $8 to shiat is cheap.

Well, unless you're a peon.  But since when has NYC ever given a damn about peons?

You could get the NYSC Passport membership and poop at any of their locations for half that price.

I recently went in those bathrooms expecting a Port Authority or Penn Station level of cleanliness and was pleasantly surprised.  It was like a bathroom in a 5-star hotel in comparison.

A true New Yorker knows 4 usable toilets within a 4 block radius to every part of the city,

I prefer the one at the Waldorf Astoria if I'm ever in the area.

Seattle tried that, and they because places for hookers to ply their trade, and druggies to shoot up.

It didn't help that those toilets were in locations where there are a large number of homeless shelters and where charities often feed the homeless.  So there is a sizable number of homeless.  And Washington is a state where involuntary commitment for those with mental health issues has a very high threshold, so many of those homeless have less than rational thinking patterns.

Fun times.

This doesn't strike me as that big a deal.  There are plenty of free options available if you know where to look.  It amazed me how clean and safe the toilets where in the Tokyo subway stations.  Just a cultural thing, I guess.

My favorite Manhattan bathroom find was a school's indoor rummage sale I happened to be walking past. Keep your eyes open and you find places.

For those prices can I assume that a blumpkin is included?

especially when the city should be providing it for free

Lost Thought 00: People should be allowed to go wherever they want as long as they pick up after themselves.

Well, I remember staying at the Super 8 in San Diego on a work trip 8 years ago... as I was checking in, I noticed a person amble out from behind the dumpster that was sitting next to the neighboring Starbucks shop (I assume he was homeless, as he was dressed shabbily and hanging out behind a dumpster, probably a safe assumption). The guy promptly dropped his trousers and squatted over a coffee can. I also assume he wasn't refilling Starbucks Choice Blend or something.

At any rate. he was nice enough not to leave it in a pile there in the parking lot, though I'm not sure why he couldn't have done that in his spot BEHIND the dumpster.

/Was still a better place to stay than the Hilton in Mission Hills

"I'm a germaphobe and I don't like dirty bathrooms - it grosses me out ... But these are great because they are cleaned after every use," Parks said.
Damn, we're headed straight for The Caves of Steel
