Have I completely missed the point of that. Sort of nice to save a turtle, but beyond that?

Slice it open near the base of the neck, drain the blood into a glass, mix with wine, and pour over ice. Take the meat and throw it in a hotpot for a delicious soup!

Oh my god.  I've never seen one that long.

Nana's Vibrator: Oh my god.  I've never seen one that long.

I get that a lot, but the term is "thick and veiny".

Am I the only one disappointed the turtle didn't leave with a chunk of thumb?

Cool Story:

My last turtle interaction was *Very Carefully* saving an alligator snapping turtle from a shopping mall parking lot.  The memo turtles got about being slow? He didn't get it...

Because they're very close together?

Well, this is Australia, and clearly it is a mix between the common turtle we know around the rest of the world, and some sort of venomous snake that will kill you if it bites you.

Isn't pretty much everything in Australia a mix between something and some sort of venomous snake that will kill you if it bites you?

They keep calling it a "he". I'm not familiar w/ this type, but my money is on it being a female.
Short front toe-nails.
Short tail.
Flat plastron (tummy shell)

Males have longer nails on their front claws for holding on.
Longer tail... *things retract*
Con-vexed plastron for mounting.

Is this where I post video of the crawdad I found living in a clam shell?

Our yard is home to a gopher turtle.  We refer to it as a 'she', because, well....Tammy the Turtle was the first name to come out of our mouths when we moved in.  Our beagle is obsessed with her.  He can't quite figure out what it is...but he figures barking at it will accomplish something.  I know the day is going to come when he puts his nose down the entrance to her little cave.

No point to this story, other than I had a turtle story.

/I realize I just told a turtle story on the interwebs, and died inside a little.

Oops, overturned some spent beer cans at :55.  No reason to ruin some perfectly good drinking by trying to fish, amirite?

As soon as I saw the turtle I turned down the volume. Then I read the description. Still cool though.

Steve Irwin just isn't as exciting as he used to be.
