I want to say to Love: "Look at the history of the Wolves and the history of the Lakers. Which team is gonna be on top again?"

Then I look at who is running the Lakers and I hang my head

Surprise, Surprise. Nobody wants to play with Kobe.

Even assuming Kobe can come back from his injury and play halfway decent, his contract is massive.  If they signed Love, him and Kobe wouldn't leave much cash for any kind of supporting cast.

What a lot of Lakers fans don't understand is that the legacy of the Lakers came from Dr. Buss and his move of the franchise from Minnesota to LA, then winning once he got here.

Not everything that's happened to the Lakers that past 2 years has been Jim Buss' fault; however, the prestige that the Lakers organization had is now gone.  Stars don't want to come to a team that isn't run by the man who made the Lakers what they were until 2 years ago.

The legacy started with Dr. Buss and ends with Dr. Buss.

No, just no. Dr. Buss bought the team, the Kings, and The Forum from Jack Kent Cooke in 1979. They went to 7 titles under Cooke's ownership and though they only won one, they were a great LA franchise by the time Buss took over.

Doesn't he literally have to say stuff like that because of tampering rules?

And in a non-literal sense, he still has to say it. It would be crapping all over teammates and fans. He has plenty of time to crap on the organization after he leaves.

Fallout Boy: Surprise, Surprise. Nobody wants to play with Kobe.

People are still using that old chestnut? I thought that talking point died once Gasol, Odom, Bynum, Artest, Fisher, Matt Barnes, Nick Young, Steve Nash, and others either came via free agency, re-upped with the Lakers, or in Nash's case...approved of a trade to play with Kobe.

Corey Brewer is only 27? It seems like he's been doing whatever it is he does in the NBA for 20 years now.

The Lakers are faltering. EVERYBODY PANIC.
I'm tired of the mentality in the NBA that pretends a small handful of franchises have the moral obligation to pillage other teams of their talent for the greater good. It ruined baseball and it's what's kept the NBA from surpassing baseball in North America.
But then again, coming from ESPN LA, which is biased, the story doesn't surprise me. However, the idea that "...uhhhh...well, you HAVE to become a Laker because if the Lakers suck, then it's bad!" is one of Silver's biggest underlying challenges as commish because it's an attitude that prevails league-wide. It's what continues to fuel the now-pointless 2002 WCF conspiracy theory, it's what dragged LeBron out of Cleveland and Howard out of Orlando, so OF COURSE Kevin Love has to leave Minnesota.
17 'ships? Great. Wonderful. Happy for you. But FFS, don't let it make you think you're automatically entitled to any more. And if we should happen to deal with an OKC-Ind. Finals, I bet the league would survive, too.

I think Kevin Love is overrated

Call me old school, but I don't think you win with your C/PF hanging outside shooting 45% from the floor.

Of course you leave out Dwight Howard.

You're right, I did. I never claimed everyone wants to play with Kobe. Dwight didn't. Neither did Shaq or Raja Bell. And although the opportunity never presented itself, I'm sure Ray Allen would've felt the same (he and Kobe have disliked each other for some time).

But the guy I replied to said "nobody wants to play with Kobe", which is false. It would've been more accurate to say "not everyone wants to play with Kobe."
