Shouldn't the admin who greenlit this headline have procrastinated more on that decision?

No, people who want to be writers are the worst procrastinators. Writers are people who actually write things.

Great, long drawn out words spouting different theories as to WHY we procrastinate and not one word on how to over come it.

/I know a writer ... friend who could use this information

The writer veered WAY off course by the end of that article.

Contrabulous Flabtraption: The writer veered WAY off course by the end of that article.

I read this when it was Boobiesed on the Atlantic, and I came to the same conclusion, but with the TL;DR crowd, they'll never get to the part about the "trophy kids."

/should be revising my thesis

It isn't procrastination, it's research.

If you want all principals present at a 10am meeting, schedule for 9:30.

If you want a writer's best, call 3-4 hours before original deadline, ask status, be pissed about lack of professionalism, and grudgingly grant a 24-hr. extension with do or die overtones.  The rough piece just taking shape out of desperation is thus given a chance for proper completion.

Good article, and quite informative...until it inexplicably veered off into "millenials all think they deserve a trophy" land.

Hate George RR Martin all you want, but he still pumped out 5 tomes -- more than any of us will create in our lifetimes.

Oh I dunno, I think I've generated over 4000 pages worth of e-mail over the course of my various careers.

I've done a LOT of writing.  Mostly to clear up miscommunications and put out political fires, but it's not like I've been unproductive.
The only lament is that I'd like to increase my fiction writing above 0% of what I type, but I've got some more miscommunications and fires to deal with.

Don't think she's all that famous on Fark, but she is a staunch Randian liberterian.  All of the articles I've read by her were just bad and lacked any real insight into the problem (or "problem") being discussed.  She is one of the reasons I ended my subscription for the Atlantic.

This is pretty funny:  http://videos.nymag.com/video/Jonathan-Chait-Makes-Great-Deba.
