I can't take credit for this.  It was in the comments from TFA:

It's everyone else's fault.  Ovechkin, because he left Russia for the NHL.  The American ref, because his (correct) ruling through the team off it's stride.  It's all a conspiracy.

/It's the Russian way.

It's a real disaster for the KHL, because they were trying to sell their league as equals to the NHL.  That's why the Russkies had a KHL player on the first line, and star NHLers on the 4th.  Didn't work out so well, huh?  (or should I say, "eh"?)

i really wanted to see russia play the u.s. or canada in the championships.  it would have been a lot of fun for the host country to stay in it, especially one with so many high profile players

Alexander Radulov is one of the greatest wastes of talent I've ever seen, and I watched Sergei Berezin.  It was hilarious watching Russias coach eat crow in the third and put Kulemin out on the power play.

The Predators are my favorite team in the West, and I have to admit- seeing Radulov suck it up in this tournament has been great.

That was a pretty surreal conversation.  Could have used some King in Yellow references.

FUN FACT: In the 1938 World Cup, Germany had just annexed Austria. Austria had qualified before then, so they were wiped out as their own entity, but the Germans, who had also qualified (and who now inherited the Austrian players), ordered the coach to have a 6-5 split of Germans and Austrians on the pitch at all times.

The German and Austrian play styles were totally different, they never meshed on the field, and they went out in the first round to Switzerland.

It's not the same coach. Viktor Tikhonov was the coach in 1980

Finland has 8 KHL players to Russia' 9 players.

Russia lost because they foster individual players/talent over team/system play.

Finland on the other hand has seemed to master the art of creating a team environment better than just about any other country in these short tournaments.

It might be prophetic actually. Just how many pig farms does Putin know the owners of or how many areas of Russia have packs of wild wolves/dogs running around that the guy could be left alone naked and with a bullet in one knee?

I didnt watch the game, but the article i read said this coach just rolled his lines 1-2-3, 1-2-3, never made any adjustments, rolled out the bottom lines after timeouts instead of throwing the top line out. That is partly why Ovi had no ice time.
