Man, I wish I was one of Patrick Stewart's, like, five or even seven hetero friends that totally drink beer and eat lots of chicken wings with him.
The man is surpassing Bill Shatner in awesomeness these days.

Bill Shatner is not awesome.  He's sub-awesome.  He's "Leslie Nielsen" awesome.  Patrick Stewart is practically awesome, but he needs to star/appear in something truly great to be fully awesome.

If he appeared in a Zucker/Abrahams  movie, then he would be awesome. Even though Bill appeared in one, I have to take points off for his attempts to "sing"

I love that, by his own admission, he used to take himself WAY too seriously until his Star Trek costars got him to lighten up.
And now he's freaking awesome.

Airplane 2 wasn't actually a Zucker/Abrahams movie.

Nice catch.  I will have to take more points off (or do I offset because it was still an Airplane movie... then there was Loaded Weapon 1...)

"Can I DO this? Or do I look like some sort of gay superhero?"

One of the funniest movies ever. It's on Netflix streaming right now.

To be fair to the Guardian, I had to look Patrick Stewart up a few months ago, I didn't THINK he was gay, but from some of the pics he was in with Ian McKellan, I wasn't entirely sure.

I really like his Twitter response to the whole thing. The guy becomes more fun with each passing day,, that's for sure. If I was going to be a rich, world famous celebrity, THIS is the kind of rich world famous celebrity I wold be, as opposed to some self-loathing mopey emo depressive D-bag. I'd have fun with life and live it for the joy of living it. Patrick Stewart is definitely reaching idol status, mostly because he doesn't seem to care if he's anyone's idol.

Paraphrasing here, but the best moment in the very few American Dad episodes I've seen:

"Stan, do you have any Gatorade?  I seem to have left my electrolytes with your daughter..."

I don't know what episode that was from, but goddamn, hearing Cap'n Picard let that out, I freakin' laughed my ass off.

I'll give you that one... Some movies just should never have been made. I have no idea WHO ever thought that would translate into a movie. It was a perfect farking cartoon, I could have told them when I was 10 that it would never make a good movie.

But the rest of Nielsen's shiat was awesome though.

Yeah, early in the series, the character he voices, who is Stan's boss at the CIA, has a fling with his teenage bicycle/daughter.  She also f*ks a Koala with the voice and mind of a CIA agent, as well as an impersonator of Stan (looks exactly like him), so i mean she has no standards at that point in the series.

In general, yes, he delivers the laughs big time as Deputy Director Bullock, and the episodes centering on the character are side-splitting when you close your eyes and hear Picard or Charles Xavier delivering the line.

Alas, only natural born citizens can serve as El Presidente.  However, given that I did not vote last election (turd vs. turd, what a choice), I would gladly write their names in rather than vote for one of the bought-and-paid-for candidates next time around.

The only downside is that they are technically royals of a sort, as I understand the the 'Sir' thing, at least nobles, anyway.  I'd be hesitant to vote for re-establishing a monarchy.  The system we have now is SO much better.  *snerk*

Yeah, he's been great in American Dad.  The character he portrays has just gotten more and more out there as the show progressed.  I'm sad to see the show go.

Pretty much this.  I thought Next Generation was crappy end-to-end, but he's become a really entertaining personality.

Why is it that the first word we all think of after reading the article is "awesome"?

Somehow the slang references to doing Haley in the pooper sound even dirtier in his inexplicably English head of the CIA voice.
