The dogs were merely recycling their owner and determining who the new alpha would be.

Carnivorous animals eat available meat -- Rick Romero reporting.

Too bad this doesn't happen to every owner of those breeds of dogs.

My dog is now looking at me with what can only be described as a "hurry up and just DIE already" expression on its face.

Pit and a Rott. The Rott was shot. The Pit was caught.

/not really. It's like other animal stories on Fark.  And not just the "animal" kind. Exactly who you thought it was.

Doge has resurged lately for some reason. It's incredibly stupid.

Also, I thought there was a myth that dogs won't eat their owners after death, though cats will. I guess that's wrong.

This. Animals do not really "attack" a corpse. That's a bit sensational. A corpse is a pile of meat. Animals scavenge. Such is life.

Story is still pretty gross but hey, I fully expect that if my wife or I were to die at home when the other person was out of town that the cats would gnaw on our corpses.

A great song, but much poetic license was taken.  Poor Marie didn't get eaten, but her dachshund apparently nipped at her to try and awaken her.

They had to use that word because there was a pitbull involved.  If it was two Labs it wouldn't have even made the news.

Breed doesn't matter for this. It wasn't that long ago there was a story on here about a pug that did the same.

If a dog gets hungry enough it will scavenge, even off the owner- canids are usually scavengers anyway (or at least at home with the idea).

Yeah, I'll go ahead and say ^^THIS^^

morons keep being morons.  The breed ... hell, the species doesn't really matter(as long as we're speaking carnivore or omnivore): if there is "meat," the species in question is hungry, and nothing threatening is nearby ... they'll go for it.  Lions do it every year to unwary poachers, and you guys cheer them on.

/oh, and man has been known to do it to survive, so stop blaming the pitbulls for something you'd probably do when hunger brought you to it.

/not really. It's like other animal stories on Fark.  And not just the "animal" kind. Exactly who you thought it was.

Actually, if this was a typical Fark thread, people would accuse the dogs of being racist Teapartiers who killed the guy for the heinous crime of being a minority in a public place, followed by outrage over the presumption that the dogs would get off scot-free thanks to the Stand Your Ground defense.

Later it would be revealed that the dogs were apolitical Bolivians here on a work visa, and there was no possibility of them claiming Stand Your Ground, as it was already established that they were hired muscle from the local dog track sent to "teach the guy a lesson" over some unpaid gambling debts. And then the debate would shift to how it's all Obama's fault, since his lax approach to the immigration issue is what allows Bolivian dog mobsters easy access to health care in the first place... or something.
