HAMMERTOE: Good point. Now, while my reply isn't that she MUST pay for the imagined crimes of feminism, (as if it was my choice to extract such a form of payment from her,) the reality is that she's either right, and a man could and would have been her salvation, or she's wrong, (and a sexist to boot,) and that a man with her would have just provided another victim. No doubt she was scared. But, she wasn't alone.

This is an opportunity for feminists to correct this woman's way of thinking; teach her that she doesn't need to depend on a man for her safety, and show her how to protect herself.

Wendy's Chili: rustypouch: I find that feminists, or actually SJW types, have gotten so loud that sane women have their voices drowned out, or are unable to speak up. As a result, what men tend to hear is that they're all terrible people who should avoid women.

Ya know, I often read dumb internet feminist shiat on Slate or Salon and think to myself, "What kind of backward-ass neanderthal planet are these retarded bloggers living on?" but then I see this thread full of men (and I use that term loosely) saying that women deserve to be killed because they cut their dicks off and refuse to sleep with them, and I'm like, "Oh, THIS backward-ass neanderthal planet."

Well now, you're a special kind of stupid, aren't you?

It's fine by me. Wanting a man for protection is a common desire among women. I don't know if it stems from biology or society, but it's there. I don't begrudge them for it.

That Guy...From That Show!: FTA: "This should be about women saying enough is enough," said Mannwell Glenn, a political consultant advising Sanchez on Saturday's event. "When women get pissed, they get things done."

Mannwell is very perceptive.  Most guys never figure this quirk out and just complain about stuff not getting done.

I just relly got confused for a moment and was like, "When the fark did I post this??"

Very old-fashioned of her, I'd say, but also an unfortunate relic of a time many of us thought we'd progressed beyond.

IMHO, the women saying "Men have a duty to protect us" are about on par with the men who claim women should be barefoot in the kitchen making sammiches. Maybe even worse, as there's an actual risk to life and limb involved (OTOH the sammiches one implies a lifelong role).

And Wendy's Chili, "to deprive of masculine role or status" is a perfectly cromulent definition of "emasculate" and you know it. Women are allowed to be be wrong about things.

2014-02-19 01:45:21 PM

Oblio13: "Hooded youths", again. It's always "hooded youths". Is that some sort of code phrase?

It generally means:  "Teenagers committing crimes who are of culture that we cannot admit is causing lots of crimes because that would be bad think".

So in America, it's usually poor blacks or occasionally poor Hispanics.

/And then in France, it's Muslims.  With bazookas.

Wanting a man to protect you is one thing, blaming men for your assault by not being there is another. The consultant implying that thieves hurting women was worse than thieves hurting men was even worse. The guy who actually did try to stop the thief got shot. I'd think that any feminist would be appalled at this woman's thinking.

Rapmaster2000: robbiex0r: Rapmaster2000: Why would you steal a purse in 2014?  So you can get a bunch of credit cards that don't work?

Have you seen the cost of a Coach or Louis Vuitton?

My wife carries a nice Coach.  ~$500 retail, but fence price is going to be 10-20% and keep in mind that's based on the used price (Coach bags come in special bags) so your $500 retail bag is worth $25-$50 cash as a stolen, used item.

And Louis Vuitton my ass.  When you see the LV LV LV LV pattern, it's probably a fake.  People with money don't need to cover it in repetitive logos.  They sell LV bags along with CHANEL bags and the Coaches with the repetitive C's outside of the Five Points MARTA station.

We're talking about criminals, not sophisticated organized crime.
Couple the possible value of a high end purse with the likelihood of an iPhone being inside. Then add in the relative ease with which a purse can be stolen.

Young men suffer from what I like to call "Testosterone Poisoning".   Without serious guidance, both before and during that time period, they can be quite assholish, and if it becomes a habit at that age, it carries on into later life.

Toggles: Sucks that there was a victim. But that person failed to live in the same world as the rest of us, where gender biased violence does happen and needs to be guarded against. She expected 'a man' to be there to protect her and her expectations were not met and then she whined about that.

Bummer about being a victim. But in good conscience I will still groan and shake my head about the fact that she was a dumb victim.

The reason she's getting so much flack is not just because she was not too smart for being where she was (I grew up in Philly, am a 6'1" guy, and I wouldn't be where she was after midnight), but that there are plenty more women (in my experience) who would voice the same sentiments if asked. The idea that she is not alone is the real ass-kicker in a society which more and more has made men superfluous, a vestigial, appendix-like organ rather than a vital and necessary part of the body.

The whole gist of the ire at her stems from decades of daughters being told that men weren't necessary anymore, yet she chooses to call upon us for protection and bemoans the fact that we aren't there. The sad thing is that I have YET to hear any father tell his son that women aren't necessary or needed, FARK memes ("Disregard Females, Acquire Currency") aside.

Saying you don't need men then complaining when they aren't around is like complaining that the supermarket doesn't have creamed corn for sale when you don't like creamed corn.

/I will always want women
//even if they don't need me

"Most of them were probably at home sleeping."

This woman is simply scared and, rightly or wrongly, looking to men for help. If, as a man, your reaction to her is, "Haha, biatch! You must pay for the crimes of Gloria Steinam!" you need to seek help.

You mean the woman who walked out of a bar in a downtown city area after midnight with her girlfriend, whence she and her friend got mugged and shot and her knee-jerk response is:

"Why wasnt a MAN here to protect me?"

My snarky answer is: Probably with the rest of the men that she blames for things that genuinely arent their fault/ concern.
My more reasonable response is: Not out at a bar in a shady area of town after dark, alone.

Quit mansplaining to her. It's tough being a femposter in this stupid stupid man's world.

Fark ITGs never pass up an opportunity to rage-post about the turrible damage done by feminism, regardless of whether it's relevant to the subject at hand. And yes, somehow whenever a woman is beaten, robbed, raped, etc., feminism is somehow to blame. Because reasons.

padraig: I always thought that the handbag was the stupidest thing on Earth : sure, ladies, put ALL your valuable possessions in one easy-to-snatch bag. Even more better when the bag itself is more several times the iPhone that it contains, your money, your papers, and so on...

Thieves snatch purses because it's easy. Police tells people not to leave valuable in plain sights in cars. A Vuitton bag is a big "Rob me" sign.

Robbers gonna' rob. They need dope, ciggies, booze and food just like us working stiffs.  The handbag makes it easy and perhaps saves lives by limiting the "transaction" time. With no handbag to quickly make off with, the victim would be standing with her arms raised as the guy or girl robbing her rummages around in her pockets and bra.
