Nope. That's merely the set up for this :

In the past two months, according to police, three women have been shot by thieves over their pocketbooks. And Thursday, a man was shot chasing men who snatched his girlfriend's purse.
Why indeed.

Right.  The angry feminist is the problem.  Not the fact that women cant walk alone at night.  Men can, by and large, walk at night.  Women canèt walk at night.  Because of the men.

Wait:  I thought they were in every sense equal to men.  Is this not so?

Of course not.  The average woman is smaller and not as strong as the average man.  Now, if only there were some kind of way to even up the odds a bit, some sort of "equalizer" that a woman could carry that would make them less vulnerable to males....

Nah, that's just a pipe dream.

Women across the city are having similar conversations with themselves lately, as Philadelphia reels from yet another senseless purse snatching/homicide.

How many sensible purse snatchings/homicides do they get in Philly each year?

AS TYEMA SANCHEZ of Northern Liberties got dressed yesterday morning, she carefully considered which purse to carry.
Given the recent spate of purse-snatch shootings, she wondered whether she should carry her Louis Vuitton with the short straps.

Oh please.  It's not like it's real.

Also:  "A handbag is a part of our accessories. As a mother, I carry my daughter's medicine, all of her personal belongings, her toys and everything she needs to get through the day," said Sanchez. "And honestly, if someone snatches my pocketbook, all they're going to get is a bag full of bills."

Perhaps you don't need to carry all of your daughter's personal belongings, toys, and bills with you everywhere you go?

I always thought that the handbag was the stupidest thing on Earth : sure, ladies, put ALL your valuable possessions in one easy-to-snatch bag. Even more better when the bag itself is more several times the iPhone that it contains, your money, your papers, and so on...

Thieves snatch purses because it's easy. Police tells people not to leave valuable in plain sights in cars. A Vuitton bag is a big "Rob me" sign.

Oh, I get it. It's 'amusing' because the story has nothing to do with feminism.

Or is it 'amusing' because women are being senselessly murdered?

Maybe I don't get it.

Do any of you message board misogynists care to explain it to me?

Encourage women to own firearms and learn how to use them--and that means more than just target shooting. Nikki Craft understood this decades ago, when she and several fellow feminists formed an armed women's group. The liberals around her were shocked and horrified that she did this. Stand-up, respectable fighter, Ms. Craft. May not agree with all her politics, but I agree with and understand her point in that case--if the feminist rhetoric is true and women cannot rely upon men to protect them or to even not treat them brutally, then it behooves women to use any means necessary to defend themselves.

Because they can be fenced on the black market, and the risk of jail time can't be too high. It doesn't say anything about these thugs being caught yet.

In my day, even the criminals were classier. One time I was mugged and the guy went through my wallet and handed me the photos I carried. They were of no value to him but meant a lot to me. He did shoot me, but he waited with me until we could hear the siren on the ambulance before running off.

Look, bupid stitch, you disarm the honest, decent ones, further emasculate them with scholastic indoctrination and "zero-tolerance" laws which punish those who stand up to bullies just as harshly as the bullies their selves, and this is what you get.
