(RealClear)   You can listen to all the economists you want, but when one of the largest beer makers in the world cuts production because fewer people in the world can afford beer, everything that needs said about the world economy has been said   (realclear.com) divider line 56

The article was interesting.  Submitter might want to read it sometime.

Growth in Asia, no shiat. They owned HK when I lived there. I guess the only other macros were San Miggy and Tisng Tao...so it was an easy market to win.

Mose: thurstonxhowell: Mose: thurstonxhowell: Carlsberg and Stella Artois are proof that Europeans are capable of making beer every bit as shiatty as the worst American swill.

See also: Heineken, Amstel, Grolsch.

If it's all the same to you, I'd rather not see any of them at all. While we're at it, why the hell do so many people in Ireland drink Tiger and who the hell bothered to ship that pisswater out of Asia?

Ugh, I don't know, but if I have one more person tell me "ehh, Tsing Tao isn't that bad" I might just scream.

Yes it's beer, and yes it's better than baijiu, but it still sucks.

Start screaming. I like it.

It's refreshing when eating fake Chinese food like General Tso's.

Tsing Tao used to be decent but I think they changed their formula (and the taste) like around '07, '08 when they started exporting a lot.  Yanjing is much better. Or atleast when I drank it when I lived in Mainland China.

If I'm in HK, I prefer San Miguel as the cheap goto beer.  Carlsberg which is all over Asia, is usually the beer of last resort.

I've tried Tiger but wasn't impressed. If I'm back in the US, with the variety of micro or local brews in most of the country, why in the hell would I drink Tiger?!

IamSporko: NASAM: bdub77: I'm sure it has nothing to do with your skunky beer tasting like shiat Carlsberg.

This, and a million better options.

shiat macros will continue to see their market share shrink as beer drinkers find better (and usually local) options.

Yep...there are about 6 breweries within a 20 minute drive and one place that is a 10 minute walk for me.

Home-brewing seems to be getting a lot bigger too.

/have a coffee stout and a red ale almost ready for bottling

I don't think homebrewers really take much away from the commercial market. Local microbrews are very popular right now though, so that's going to have an impact on the macros.

/My next batch will be a red ale.
